Hello, I'm new to this forum. Found this place thanks to a fellow doowop admirer like myself. I just recently painted my 50 in an original 50's color in a Hot Rod Flatz and am split on what I should do with the front grill. I definitely do not want to keep the hood ornament, and I haven't seen any 50's with a flat color and the hood ornament or the original grill. I don't know. What do you recommend I do with the front grill? I have all the original parts. Here are pics of the progress. it was originally black.
is that color vanilla shake? looks good. i'd say keep the hood ornament and stock grill. there's really no reason to change them. lower it a some and you should be set. what are you running for a drive train?
It's called Moonlight Cream. It's pretty stock, but I hope to do more to it as I learn more. Right now it's got a 1955? 235 straight 6 in it. I had the rear end converted about a year or two ago. I joined this forum with hopes to improve the looks as well as performance. I'm very well new to all this and I hope to learn a lot from all of you. Thanks for the opportunity. To say a little more about myself, I am into the 40's and 50's vintage scene. I go to Viva Las Vegas every year and I love to dance to uptempo doowop music. I have been in the 40-50's scene since 2000 and got my car in 2003. I bought it all original (black exterior) with a decent interior. It was 6v but I convereted it to 12v after it caught fire, rebuilt the entire engine, got it painted this month and now i'm looking to redo the interior. I only know one guy from the same scene i'm a part of, but I am sure that there are more of you fellow vintage friends out there. Some of you know me as DooWopMario on myspace. Well, send a greeting my way and take care.
Nice to see another 4 door. I'm just finishing up the bodywork on mine. I have Jaguar IFS installed with power steering, 4 pot calipers, 78 Camaro rearend. 305 TPI and 700r4 and now bagging it. So if you need any advise? Love the color. Alex
I agree with the fellows, keep it stock, but lower it a bit. You'll find what you're lookin' for on the car side, don't know bout the doowop. Dance on, Brother!
Nice! Glad to see another 4 door. I just picked up this 49 last week and my first thought was a 2 door conversion but I'm really thinking of keeping it a 4 door. I think if done right, 4 doors can look just as cool as 2 doors.
