From the B-pillars forward, this Merc is terrific. The M E R C U R Y across the hood lip, the hood ornament, the non-radiused hood corners, the stock grill, signal lights and bumpers, the non-frenched headlights all covey the compelling power of the original design and the brand iden***y. The acid green flames on the black field jolt it out of 'then'. With all due respect for those who have created them, 49-51 Mercs that have been nosed, frenched, and DeSoto'd or Buicked have come to look botoxed, and more generic than the original car. I can't wait to see this car in person.
My enthusiasm for this car doesn't include the al***ude or the presumed removal of rockers and lowest 3" or so of fenders. I'll remain agnostic on that until I can see a photo of the car at a more normal ride height. If I had to choose between removing the bottom 3 or 4" vs sectioning out 3 or for inches from the middle, I'd be inclined to prefer losing it from the bottom. imho fwiw P.S. The next Photoshop effort should include a periscope for this U-boat.
funny... on my work computer I don't see about 90% of the pictures that get posted on the HAMB since photo hosts are blocked, but I knew it was that car that people were discussing. seen it at Paso. even took a few pics. thought it was interesting to say the least. it would look MUCH better without whatever they did to it to get it to look like that. definitly has a big "look at me" thing going for it. one more vote for stupid looking
All this **** is about being different and doing something that strays from the "norm"..."these are the people ruining cars"...my pop told me my grandfather said the said thing when my dad smoothed the hood, took the bullet out of the grille and put a mercury engine in his 49 ford in 1956. Why do the all the cars have to the same? To customize a mercury back in 1949 they nosed decked and rounded the hood corners to be different, to not look like the older gentleman that bought the car and left it bone stock. Now all mercs are nosed, decked and have rounded hood corners...this guy's car goes against the grain trying to be unique....which today is a tough feat. It might not be everyones taste...but that is why there are so many types or cars and customizing styles. To me...this type of at***ude is what is ruining cars.
