Looks like a thorough place. I attended the "other" school and learned a TON in their Collision and Refinishing thanks to great teachers. The "Street Rod" course was basically 3 months of day care. I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know, the teachers insisted teaching "mini-truckin" and one even used his corvette convertable as an example of a Carson Top! That class was a rip off and a nightmare of a joke. Your place looks nice, though. Good job.

Beat me to it. I don't understand a hotrod school. You can teach mechanical things, you can teach fabrication. You cannot however, teach good taste.

Hey chevy69, I have been meaning to stop by and say hello to Doug and you students.

Too bad he didn't teach you to blast all that crap off those frames before welding......

I think its funny that the same damn truck that was built at Wyotech YEARS ago keeps popping up at these new hot rod schools. First that one in Virginia(i think thats where it was, east coast somewhere) now this one.

Ok that explains things. He left Wyotech because they wouldn't let him go in the direction that he wanted and last time I talked to him he had just started with Virgina Tech so I assume the same thing happened for him there too, did he just decided to make it easier on himself and just start his own school to do it right? He really knows his shit and has been doing it for a long time. I wish He had this school way back when I wasted my money going to Wyotech.

  23. His own school here in the Black Hills. Nice facility. But yes, he needs to build a new car to represent since the Wyotech Va folks used his truck in ALL their literature.

Or at least give it a different paint job, it due for a new one anyway that one has got to be almost ten years old by now and has zig zagged all over the country.

I am glad that Doug is doing well with his school. VC Tech got bought out and the new owners closed all the tech classes. For those that don't know, Doug LaRue and another guy were the originators of the street rod program at Wyo Tech.

For the haters, why is it STREET ROD class? Is it because you don't like his wheels, maybe it's the 4 bar. Get over it. The kid is learning, he might not be a 3rd generation hot rodder like everybody else is.;)

Nice work guys and keep it up.

I kinda enjoyed learning things the old way, by fucking up in my mom's garage with a bunch of friends.

    Times have changed.
