Those things are all over the place around here. I just found one with almost all the parts on it minus the engine. It's in a ravine and has been half filled with sand over the years. After seeing this thread, I might try to go back and get it.

I also found the body of a 39 Ford but it's on national parkland so getting it is going to be tough. I'll go back for pix.

You guys out west have it made.

Rain, humidity, or just sitting around in the woods/weeds here keeps a car wet about 75% of any given day. I know where a hundred '30's & '40's cars are in the woods.... & not one of them is worth messing with. Hell, there aren't even any parts on them worth buying.

Yeah, you guys out west have it made.

That's how it's done. Everyone should have a friend with a backhoe!

Man, I would KILL for that dry climate. That would never have survived the trip up the gulley here in Maine. The backhoe would have brought a few feet of frame up the hill and that would have been that. Of course, you could have then taken a few trips down with buckets and shovels and brought your "car" out one pail at a time.

    Congrats.

Was it Johnny Cash that sang the song "One Part at a time." Or something like that? Gigantor just made up the Weird Al version "One Pail at a time."

Great score! I echo the sadness of the rust belt boys. Anything left uncovered and on dirt around here seems to be gone in 5 years. Including new cars.

...Awesome!...I love stories like this; and I agree with Pinstriper, 10-15 years ago this car wasn't worth the effort, not today.
    ..is that a 35 or 6?...I got a 36 hood, & repro grille.

  21. Each state is different but for here in AZ you must take the car to MVD and they run the numbers and see if the car comes up stolen or a last registered owner comes up. If a last registered owner comes up you have to send a certified letter to the address that MVD gives you and when that letter comes back to you not being able to be delievered you can go buy a bond and turn all of that in and they give you a bonded ***le and then everything is legal and you can then register and put plates on the car. Just got done doing this for a Volkswagen bug that I just finished buliding and getting ready to sell.

  22. HAHAHAHA that is great one.

  23. That is why you build what you just showed at Round up this year. Was down in the dumps a little that I did not go this year but you are one of the few that saw what my 32 looks like at night with some one driving behind you. That is why I stayed home this year and I am putting in all the patch panels so no more light show while driving down the road.

Way to go, guys! Your son has a good eye! Cool to see he's got enough "kid" left in him to climb down a desert ravine like that, just to check it out. Keep us updated on this build; I'm excited about it all the way from Minnesota! -marx
