I am planning on buying this baby. Its a 4 door, but i want to weld up the rear doors and do a hardtop chop. I want to take like 5 or 6 inches out of it!!! I know its not the best angle or size picture, but maybe you can work with it??!! I would really appreciate it!!!

rad car, but if you are going to chop it you should track down some doors from a 2dr car and do the conversion, no?

I think radically chopping a cherry 4 door is pretty unnecessary. They look good as they are.

I think welding the rear doors is pretty lame. If you really want a 2 door, go find one, don't screw up a 4 door... as you will still have a 4 door. I've never seen a rear door weld job that didn't make the lines of the car look weird.

I agree, sorry I left out the fact that I would want to section and lengthen the front doors. If I could find a 2 door in the same condition for the price, I would go that route!! But, I cant. Best deal for the money right now. As far as using a 2 door doors, I dont think that would work with the bodylines of this car.

Don't screw up a nice ride like that. It's survived this long. Look for a rough 2 door if you want to chop it up.

This is a hot rod and custom board guys. Leaving it stock is for sissies. Chop it, just plan it out well before cutting.

FWIW, if it were me, I wouldnt chop it nearly as much as that rusty one in the pic you posted, thats a cartoon car.

I think many of us have seen way too many cool old cars fucked up beyond repair when the "weld up the back doors and make it a hardtop" idea goes bad.

I agree... the one one the above photo is over chopped. looks like the reflection from a funhouse mirror. though I have seen that car and it looks like he's doing a good job of it.

I agree. Obviousely dont chop it if you arnt sure it will come out well. Some people have an eye for where to make the cuts, and some dont. Im sure experience has a lot to do with it. Thats why the only body modification I didnt do myself on my car is the chop, I let a 40+ year veteran custom builder do it.

Maybe I am misreading - but it sounds like you haven't bought it yet.
