After 30 years at the same job, working 12-16 hours a day, I told them I had enough. In 30 days I will be amoung the unemployed for the first time in about 35 years.

My wife says that I will be retired not unemployeed. She says anyone that works the same job for 30 years should be considered retired. The best part of it is she is 14 years younger than me and doesnt care if I ever get another job. What a woman! I think I'll keep her.

I may turn in to a swap meet junkie, flip some cars, and continue to grow our insulation business. Hell, my future is wide open now!

Also Were leaving the sand storms of west texas and plan on moving over around the Springtown area (about 30 miles west of Fort Worth) but thats not set in stone. We plan on living in our camping trailer till our home here sells then building a shop/house.

I was pretty freaked out about quitting up until I gave my notice, now its all down hill from here. I'm actually excited about it now. Anything will be better than the same old drudgery ive put up with. The job was really getting me down the last 5 or so years.

Damn, life is good again! Swap meets and car shows here I come!

Cool man good luck....after 20 years mine is ending in January.

  4. Good for you. Working for other people sucks.

If you have the ways and means to make a buck, you will do fine. Look at it like having a few little jobs. It helps break up the monotony.

OH, you get to keep all the $$ for you, too..

  5. bet it feels like a big weight lifted off your shoulders

I retired last June after 39 years. There aren't enough hours in the day to do all the stuff I've been putting off doing all that time. Have a blast!

  13. 12-16 hour days? Gee, I hate working an 8 hour day, dunno how ya do it. Good luck, in a couple of years you'll be saying "man, I wish I'd done that decades ago"!

  25. I've been looking for a job for 31 years and I just can't work for anybody else. Until I get to where I can play well with others I'll just have to keep building engines and working hot rods. I'm sure you'll be happy and that's what is important. Congrads>>>>.
