    .

Terry, I don't think I've seen one chevy posted yet on this "showbox" thread. I have heard a couple of old timers call a chevy a shoebox.

Ok there was one on the first page but after seeing all the cool fords i forgot about the chevy. LOL

The black one is mine the black and corral one is Time-Bomb John's.
Time-Bomb John's was the first shoebox I flipped for... after seeing it in a magazine that I bought (can't remember the name of the mag it's no longer in print and I never saw any other issues?) I fell hard and began my search, a few years later I found one. It's been on here looking the same for a long long time.

BAH-HA-HA-HA! Are you saying I'm a old timer!! It's bad enough my kid has been saying it now everybody else is joining in! LOL!

I have noticed lately in a few rags people saying Shoebox Ford or Shoebox Chevy.

Also there are a few places (hedit comes to mind) where if you order parts for a shoebox and expect to put them on a ford they're not going to fit.

Oh well, apples and oranges I guess, it's like the other post I just read about trouble lights.... I thought a trouble light was a little thing with a ice pick poker on the end and a roach clip on the other, with some wire strung beween! LOL!

Yea I will get into it. In 1949 Ford and Chevy both came out with new cars. I won't say that GM coached their people to insult the Fords by calling them shoeboxes, but I was with my father and he was looking for a new car. The Chevy salsman asked which is the better looking car, this or the square looking Ford shoebox? My father went for the V/8.

Nice car, but that roof might prove to be troublesome down the road. Was the rear window braced before it was welded in? Either you have to have the glass in, or brace it (I use a bunch of conduit welded all over) to keep the window from flexing. You would be surprised how much that window frame can twist to where it can no longer accept the glass without cracking. They do make rear glass (I think) but the stock rear glass isnt able to be altered. Id definately install it to make sure it fits before going further.

Also, was the roof split down the middle? It looks like it was cut into 4 quarters?
