Von Rigg FInk is right - he will have a car too some day. But, if you're moving, I think the idea of the AIDS awareness or Gay Rights or maybe even some reference to ****** in his name would be a nice touch.
Karma will come around to bite these little ****ers in the ***.
I too think it's kind of a cop out to label it in terms of cl*** or party politics. It's the parenting or lack thereof. I'd be hard pressed not to become the "acting parental disciplinarian" in this instance, particularly if I knew who it was.
Good luck man, I feel for you.

So I suppose po' little Lorenzo should just do whatever the f he wants just because he wants to and anybody who says NO is a pain in the ***??? Whatever, dude....

So this guy does nothing wrong, gets his sign stolen. gets the people involved and now suffers criminal mischief to his truck again for doing nothin wrong. You sir get the ***clown award. Is that what the country has turned into? Run away from everything. How you think he is a drama queen is really quite ludicrious. Those kids will get theirs or just have them move to Nads neighborhood and lets ee how he would deal with them. Nah he would just move

    1) If you have nothing to add to a post, shut the **** up. Do you want some cheese with your wine? I have no problems with OT post if someone is wanting advice. (Actually the only part I don't like about the HAMB is the non-tolerance of OT post when someone needs help/advice)

    Now for my addition:
I'd either take care of it myself and make sure it wouldn't happen again or take him/them under my wing and teach them a few things constructive. Getting the parents involved would also be a first step, maybe they can work it off. Install a motion sensor camera system and rattle their chains again, catch them in the act.

You have to play the game man...
I don't think I would have pushed as hard for a yard-sign being stolen.

My "shop" is a storage unit where I work on the car with one extension cord running out and a little music playing. Coincidentally it it also the parking lot where the punk ***es skate after school.

I used to skate, used to break **** and be loud.... so I understand. When I see them ****ing off, being loud, trying to break into the car wash quarter machine... I keep my ****ing mouth shut.

I have developed some what of a tolerance knowing that if the cops screech in while I'm the only one there to call them, my flimsy door will be ripped in half and my car/parts/tools are gone or destroyed.

Pick your battles man... Todays youth is just bored and pent-up with energy... if it's something "harmless" let is slide or it will be something truly harmful.

Ice cream? You're gonna have to step it up, all kids want these days is ecstasy and cough syrup.

In all seriousness, the vandalism problem is prevalent even here at school. My car has gotten more door dings than both years of high school combined, someone did a hit and run and creased my tailgate and cracked a taillight lens, and even stole the turn signal lens off of my MGB GT. I hope the lens is living the good life on the side of some thug's clapped out XJS. The only thing you can really do in a legal sense is catch them in the act and take pictures. Morality, however, is very different from legality. Some one needs to teach these punk***es some morals...

Uhh.........no. If they know they can get away with small "harmless" stuff his garage and/or house will be on fire next. If he would have been able to catch them and scare them to death do you think they would have been back to slash his tires or would they have chosen a weaker target? That kid deserves a beat down of monumental proportions. Then he will think twice before even walking past his house. A few broken bones never hurt anyone. ;)

cameras my friend cameras! my buddy had the same problem and invested in video and audio surveilance and it paid off. had the neighbor drive off in his car and sat in his garage waiting for the punks(with his 12 gauge) when they broke in he shot both of them with non lethal rounds called dumm-dumm's. at 40' they will break a few ribs but not kill someone just inflict m*** discomfort. needless to say the local punks stay away from his place these days.

I'd be careful about the surveilance stuff. Around here, they can use surveilance equipment as probable cause for a warrant to search your property for meth labs. I don't want the swat team busting down my door in the middle of the night. This seems crazy to me, but check out this article:

I had a similar experience once. Some kids in the neighborhood were keying my GF's car. One day driving along they threw some **** at mine.

These kids were about 13-14, and I'm 6'4". I slammed on the brakes, did a huge burn out in reverse... Leaped out of my Ttop and bum rushed the kids and scared the **** out of them.

Needless to say, their parents got involved and all the sudden I'm the bad guy. You can't/won't win with that game.

When you are fighting with people who have nothing to lose, then you WILL lose. You retaliate and you are the one that is going to end up in jail. It's ********, but it's the way the world works. It's not any political party's fault or some new issue... it's the haves vs the have nots. This **** has been going on for 1000 years. When someone doesn't have anything - you can't take anything away. All they can do is take from you.

So, in short, I still don't know what the best thing to do is. The best suggestion i've seen so far is to claim that you saw them perpetrate the crime even tho you did not. Altho that is inherently un-american, at least it doesn't put you at any risk.

The idea of fighting fire w/ fire is fun and exciting, but you have SO much more to lose than they do. It's not worth it.

Getting the parents involved probably isn't going to help either. If the parent's gave a ****, they wouldn't be out doing this **** in the first place.

And Nads, now you've stepped in it. Touche.

I will add to this by saying the one thing that I think, as a neighborhood, can be done is to help each other out.

If I saw some kids slash my neighbors tires - sure as **** I would chase that ****er down and get a positive ID. When people don't back each other up is when this stuff is allowed to perpetrate.

If you lived in Texas you could probably just shoot them.

Thats what I said earlier. The sooner they see that you're okay with them, they'll leave you alone. They might even stand up for you if bigger thugs want some action. "leave his **** alone, he's cool"

Thats a better, less stressful way to live.

Yep. Watch the movie "Death Sentence". While I agree it would be awesome to just smack the **** out of him, it just creates more problems.

I love being a Texan. We have a little more power to protect ourselves and our property. Seriously look in to a neighborhood watch. get you neighbors involved. I am sure they are fed up also. Start patrolling your street at night or at least on weekends. Soon the Vandals will move on to look for people ho aren't so vigilant. Contact your local PD about starting one. Also call the cops every time something is su****ious. Do not hesitate. Soon they will get tired of you calling ad they will try to do something about it. Squeaky will and all.

I wasn't gonna read this cause it did seem kinda over the top for a real estate sign. But I just had to "rescue" my own parents (78 years old) from a punk neighbor situation too. These turd 15/16 year olds had been stealing stuff from my dad's garage, throwing beer bottles over the fence, yelling **** at him while he was working in his garden and finally started pulling his fence down piece at a time. He didn't tell me about it for over a year because he knew I would go ballistic!

I did move them out to my small town and sell their house in the city. But before I did I called the cops and had them meet me for a "sit down" with the kids' mother. I stated, with the cop as my witness, that I considered the kids a physical threat to my parent's heath and were known theives and that five other people in the neighborhood were willing to press charges. It didn't phase her but the cop said "to do what you have to".

The mom just threw the kids out of the house, but a few weeks later they were back and knocked the whole fence down and ****ed up the plants in Pop's back yard. They don't have anything to lose and I do, so we're out of there. But before I drove away the last time I walked right up to the kids and their mother and told them to have fun fast, because someone SURELY WILL either shoot them in the head soon or **** them in the *** for "five to fifteen". I felt a little bit better.

not to get off subject but..You guys in Texas Have great Law Makers. That kind of thinking needs to become contagious. When I get done up here freezing my *** off, me and all my iron is moving down there. Because my idea of gun control is "Being able to hit your target"!

Has that new law helped any? has anyone tested it yet?

It's been tested - a few theives and would-be theives are pushing daisies.

If it works or not won't really be known for a few years to see if crime rates drop. It will be interesting to see.
