For what it's worth to ya guys........Next June Disney is releasing their CARS movie. It's a movie done like Toy Story but based on cars and cars only. No people in the movie. It has car towns and car "shoe" shops (tires). In the previews I picked out a 49 Olds, a TALL T, a 60 Chevy in HEAVY purple flake with flames and a few other goodies. They say it's got shiney, old, rusty and new. Something for US.

  6. Those cartoon mentioned are some of my favorites. I haven't seen any of them for sometime either as many others mentioned. I've been thinking for a while now about how disappointing the cartoons on TV are nowadays.

Last week before Christmas, my girlfriend's nephew came over to spend a few days with us. I was off so I was home with him. He wanted to watch some cartoons on Cartoon Network so we turned on the tube. I gave up on Cartoon Network a while ago because they hardly show any old cartoons, and I don't really care for any of the new cartoons they show. Anyway, we're watching the 'toons and Lewis turns and tells me how he likes the "old" cartoons better. I asked him which ones, and he goes on to tell me how he has a lot of cartoons on DVD. Some of his favorites in his collection are The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, Looney Toones, etc. He told me he even has a DVD with all the episodes of Topcat cartoons! That kid blew me away! Turns out his Dad is a cartoon fan from the word go, and they watch alot of them together. Lewis said they always look for cartoon DVDs every time they go shopping. Well, some new cartoon came on after about 20 minutes and Lewis said he didn't like "that one", so he went off to see what his cousin was up to.

This just goes to show that a cl***ic never goes out of style. Most of the great cartoons are at least 40 years old now, and they still appeal to kids in our modern, hectic times. Even though on some of them they have to change voices or cut out some scenes to make them politically correct, they are still the best. I would like to think that the Cartoon Network would get a clue and show more of the oldies, but you know that will never happen. Old cartoons are getting harder to find on TV, and I'm afraid they might be a part of Americana that is slowly slipping away...............E

Exactly.....:) I remember being 5 or 6 and crying my eyes out when Suzy hit the boneyard, then smiling when the young guy built her into a rod.

While I was Christmas shopping I found a ceramic likeness of the little car.
The store was mobbed with only one cashier so I left it.

If you can get info on where to get one I am sure a ton of people on here would be interested. I know I would. If you could pick up a couple it would make a great HAMB auction.:)

Good stuff. I just recently got the whole Tex Avery/MGM collection on 5 DVD's. My dad found it for me at a swap meet, but I'm sure you can search the net and come up with it. There's a ton of cl***ics on there that will make you say "Oh man, I remember this one!" My personal favorite would have to be "The Magic Maestro."

Funny, every time I see someone in a movie racing a train it reminds me of this cartoon.
