  4. Wow, you got rid of one bad ass ride Jesse. I regret it for you! I would love to see some close ups of how that car was put together. I sold alot this past year....guess I am starting to realize I need focus and stop acting like a kid in a candy store thru life! Everyone says that I should regret getting rid of my 32.......

I never bought it,but I think about it all the time.
    In Chicago "artsy" little newspaper;
    1963 Ford drag car.
Some hippy had it,didn't know what engine etc.

1963 Falcon bought new by a doctor, converted to drag car
straight axle BBC 4 speed, cut rear wheel wells,
orig.paint, perfect interior 960 miles on it.
$1800.00 but I was moving and had no where to keep it...

Well for me there was 2, my 55 Ford, which was my first build ever. Built it in 97, sold it and then bought it back in 05. Alot worse for were, but at least I had it back!
Second would be my 49 business coupe...still trying to track down that car.

Another one I'd like back.....'66 F-85 442. Was originally bought for drag racing, as it had no options except the 442 package, but had 3.91 posi and a 4-speed. When I got it it had a stock Olds 350 in it hooked to the Muncie via a Lakewood scattersheild and a Hurst Super Shifter (SHORT throw!), and an early Hurst roll control.... It was a rusty pile, but alot of fun to drive. I installed a new Centerforce clutch, rebuilt the rear, and installed Crager Superlites, but never went any further with it.....
Sold it at the same time (@2005) as the '61 Olds posted earlier, each @ $2500, in order to finish building my '80 SWB Chevy pu w/454 (which I no longer have either).....
    WTF was I thinkin'?!?!?!

Mine did not get away from me it was taken away. In 1987 my brother and I bought 4 Chevy II. One SS one original floor shift stick and a GM sponcered drag car with a straight axle and rear end move forward glass fenders, doors, truck and hood. Brother was an ahole and his neighbor hated him so when he moved to Ohio someone stoled the car and no one saw anything. I still have pictures somewhere.

why on earth would you sell that? such a great start. must have been some serious issues going on.

my brother had a 52 5 window chevy pickup that i know he kicks himself daily about getting rid of. but he was like 18, it was his daily driver, and was a straight six 3 speed on the column, 6 volter.

looked into locating it a while back, and got a lead, but never heard anything else.

It was definitely a love/hate relationship with the '47, but I still love the look of it.

when i was fifteen lookin for my first car which i was buying with saved up lawnmowing money i found two of these in the recycler for $4500 for both... one ran one was parts car. my dad said "why the hell would you want those?" tried to explain that they are rare and valuable, to which he replied "we dont have room for two cars". the worst part is he saw one on t.v. about two years ago and said"whoa thats cool have you ever seen one of those!? i wonder how hard those are to find!". i just chuckled shook my head and said"we coulda had two for $4500 when i bought the delivery". "really" he said"why didnt you tell me about them?" i just said "i dont know...".

I miss my '53 Poncho... had big dreams for this thing. Sold it for personal reasons, another HAMBer owns it and maybe someday he'll get tired of it and let me buy it back. Maybe when the time is right for everyone. I need another project like I need a hole in the head though...

389, tri power, 4 speed, posi, 8 lugs, and room for all your gear in the back. Pretty quick for a big, dumb wagon.

My first ebay purchase. Had I known then who I know now, it would still be running. Then again, at 3mpg, I'm not sure I could afford to drive it out of the gas station parking lot. ;-)

Bought this one less engine, trans, and rear axle when I was a teenager. It had been changed from Olds power to a Chrysler wedge before I bought it, and I scraped up enough to buy the injected Mopar that came out of it. Kept it about three years and then sold it all for tuition money for college. There are a couple of others I let go and wish I still had, but this was the worst

    2 cars for me.

    1. My dad's old front engine dragster. Took second place at the GNRS 25th anniversary show. I still have the trophy. Full body. 210 inch wb. Chassis by the late great Pete Ogden. Had a couple of kille blisters on the cown from when Wild Bill Alexander drove it with his cowboy boots!!!!! Dad sold it when they moved to SoCal. I was in college at the time and have always regretted not being able to buy it. Car is alive and well, and races in Washington State somewhere. Cage was changed, but that's an easy fix. Oh man would I like another opportunity to get it back in the family.

Car 2 was my dads old roadster. It hauled ass. I've looked and looked for it with no avail. It was an Andy's Instant T. Blown, angle cut gears in the real that howled like a mofo. Smoked the hoops in every gear. I've always wanted to buy it back for my dad. It's gotta be under a tarp in someone's garage.................right?

The 56 Ford Ford Fairlane I sold in 1997. I didn't think twice about it, until now, because I knew at some point I would get back into old cars. That point is now...I went to an airshow in January and a Town Sedan was there. That lit the fire back under me. Now I wish I'd kept it, but it needed a lot of work, wasn't running and I wasn't taking care of it so it was best that I let it go. I sold it to Steve Warchola of Torrance, if anybody knows him or what happened to the car I would love to hear about it, I've been meaning to give him a call. Perhaps it's been sold again. I keep this pic of Chuck Gardiner's on my desktop, because my car looked exactly like this:

Awwwwww, I love the highland, brings back some good memories for me, like the time we traded cars for awhile going to york pa. 1980, and I got to drive it, also the time I blew it off the fuckin road with my 34, and the cops were chasing us, well and caught us, your dad talked him into letting us go. and even better the time we dirt raced up to the barn, sideways all the way, well that was when the road was all dirt. good stuff, beautiful car, always my favorite, I had a copy of 1962 hotrod in my car the day I met your dad, of all the cars, he should have kept it

...1974...I was 13 years old, on the way back to Michigan from my grandfather's funeral in Kentucky, going over the bridge from Ky. to West Virginia, setting at the foot of the bridge on the W.V. side...'57 Chevy, 210, 2-door sedan, black, black pleated bucket seat interior, chrome straight axle, white painted frame and undercarriage, crossram small block, 4-speed...$425!!!...I BEGGED, BEGGED my dad to buy it, and him and I could drive it back, while my mom & brother drove our '70 Ford Custom 500 back!...no way, he wouldn't do it...I had the money to pay him back, he wouldn't pull the trigger!

I would love to have my old RPU back. Fun little ride! I could build another for a 1/4 of what it would cost to have it back but it just wouldn't be the same. Maybe someday.

    Unfortunately no pics damn it.

Wish I had the 1968 Chevy Truck that was given to me from Grandpa Fred Tafoya in Norwalk! I drove that back from LA to Bay Area while I was pregnant with my first baby and helped re-build the motor...the day I was bringing it down to DMV and then to the DeRosa 2nd home for body & paint I woke up and some dirty basterd had stolen it! Boy I was beyond PISSED. More nostalgic than anything else. I wish I could give that to my son or daughters as a cool ass first car.

I guess I should be honest...."King of Mercs" because I LOVED the fun I had with my dad while helping with that car! Also, I loved the colors because I picked them. He used to drop me off at the High School in that car and take my best friend & I to ice cream~
