Barn Find!!! 35 Plymouth coupe...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oddrodgarage, Apr 16, 2008.

  1. Struck a little sheetmetal gold last night in the form of a 35 plymouth coupe with rumble seat...bought her off of the second owner who has owned it since 1978...the weird thing about this one is that about 7 months ago I was wearing a RUST REVIVAL TEE SHIRT at my twin boys' school when one of the teachers said, "I like your shirt...we have an old car"...she told me what it was and said it would never be for sale...Thursday night on a whim I checked the local craigslist cl***ifieds and she had posted an ad five minutes earlier and I sent her an email and she remembered talking to me and the next morning we struck a deal...she bought it as a sophomore in high school from the original owner for his original purchase price in 1935 of 625 bux...her and her father went through everything on this baby over the years and had the body acid bathed etc...it is so gennie that it hurts as now I am conflicted...I think the plan will be to, as my friend puts it, to build a "gentlemans hotrod" with old school performance stuff like an edmunds 2 x 1 with strombergs, split the pipes, etc...but to maintain her natural good looks...a color change will probably happen but for now we are gonna date for awhile before I try to get to second base...one of the pix shows it how it was sitting in the barn when I picked it up last night

to which I answer, no matter how much you think so, it takes more work to get YOU running so I can take a ride than the car. And I never mind giving my buddies a ride in the car :D

gets me the silent treatment long enough to put some time in the cars

good find! father in law picked up a BIG 36 olds 4 door sedan that I wouldn't mind doing that with.

IMO it would be wrong to mess with that.

WOW!! What a stroke of luck....you just happen to check craigslist minutes after it's listed............stuff like that never happens to me!! Great find. The split pipes and some other hop-up goodies sounds cool!!

Women do sometimes feel like they are competing with the cars. Try ***uring her that the car will never fix supper, wash your clothes or bring you a cold beer:D:D Women love a sweet talker............

I'm diggin' the color myself, reminds me of the blue AMT molded some of their stuff in the early 60's.
