Once again the numbers were down at okc NSRA show. When will NSRA learn that in April in Oklahoma it can be 75 or 25. They really don't care. The city doesn't want us, the police are just plain rude and the fairgrounds is just plain worn out. Road in this time was half broken asphalt and half dirt. A poor excuse for a fairgrounds. OKC is just a over-grown redneck town. I for one WILL NEVER go back to okc. Have talked to other people that feel the same way. WE'RE tired of OKC. NSRA are you listening? Or do you care what your members want? They sure don't want to freeze their ***es off and get their cars filthy just driving into the fairgrounds. How about coming to Tulsa? Fairgrounds has just be upgraded to the tune of millions of dollars. New asphalt, new buildings and a great town that the police don't hate hot rod people. Time for a fresh new venue and a change in the time of the year. Robert Hendricks Tulsa, Ok NSRA member for over 25 years.
I have written to Joe Mayall, don't think it will do a bit of good. Only think that will change their minds is if people just don't show up.
LOTS of folks who MIGHT have choosen to attended that NSRA event actually attended the Lonestar Roundup in Austin, TX that weekend instead. Over 900 cars at the Roundup with tons of them being 1948 or older. GREAT event with GREAT people. Try it next year.....if your into the traditional cars of course.
I was at the Street Rod Nats in Tulsa way back when ('73, '76), and I've been to the OKC venue a few times...I agree, Tulsa would be better.
OKC ****s? I think it's called gravity. Besides who goes to the Gold Chainer shows? Not the COOL people.
you do... breeder puts on the best "chainer" shin dig in all of norther america wow, this has gotta be the only rant i have ever seen for an intro
Not sure what I did wrong. Just thought i'd express my opinion. Looks like I did something wrong. Not sure what it was. Doc let me know. Still think OKC ****s.
Posting an intro is always a good idea before you jump in the deep end. If you didn't happen to read it at the intro page, here is Ryan's READ ME FIRST post. The HAMB is dedicated to spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and kustoms to hoodlums world wide. That’s right – TRADITIONAL. And we aren’t talking Beach Boys and poodle skirts here fellas. If you are into a-side 50’s pop, lawn chairs, ruler contests, and all things that make hot rodding warm and cozy then you might want to find another message board. If you aren’t sure what we mean by “traditional”, then you might think twice as well. If you’ve come here to set a rep, talk some ****, and make some fun then you had better turn around right now. We aren't patient. Even if you have come here for all the right reasons, don’t expect posting to be easy. We don’t cater to new fellas unless they show a dedication to spreading this tradition of ours first. We welcome young, old, foreign and all – but our original members and our staff expect a certain level of respect and an effort to keep things true and on topic. Maybe you are an old fart with a past. Maybe you are one of the guys that started this tradition we cherrish. We built this place for you and your posts mean the world to us. Hop on and introduce yourself. This is your board. Still reading? Then you must be cut out for this, right? We recommend you read some more. Check out all the forums, develop an understanding for how things work around here, learn the “do’s” and “do not’s”… The key to a happy HAMB newbie is to understand the joint BEFORE you begin posting. You want to be happy don’t ya newbie? We have very few written rules here on the HAMB and that’s the way we like it, but we won’t hesitate to dump disruptive posters, ego freaks, or **** talkers. We are all here to learn and teach - please keep your other perogatives on the sidelines. Rules: 1. No profanity in subject lines 2. No political/religious/racial posts 3. No ****. 4. All personal information listed on this board is private and protected. The HAMB does not sell this information and you are not privy to use it for your own reasons. Test us on this one and we will bite. 5. New Users must fill out thier profiles. Every bit that you can. Simply click on "User Cp" above and get to work. 6. New users must introduce themselves in the intro forum. Guidelines: 1. If in doubt, don’t post it 2. Stay on-topic and relevant with your posts… OT posts aren’t generally appreciated by our membership. 3. Gotta easy question? Try using the search function first. 4. Your life here would probably be easier if you complete your profile and introduce yourself before jumping into the deep end... __________________ Ryan Cochran "Skating the same line since 1976..."
maybe you should start out with something useful and interesting .. tell us about the hot rods you have built , the women you have loved , what cool hot rods parts and projects you have stashed away...you know , something positive *****ing about some organization on your first post that a lot around her couldn't car less about..and do anything about it if they did ....doesn't bring anything to the plate now you understand? oh yeah...welcome
Remember the first day of school? Where you had to stand up, tell your name, your dogs name, bro's and sis's, hobbies, how soon you were getting your braces off, ect. It's kinda like that. In general that's all they want here, while any other posts, especially opinion posts, go on the main board. I don't mean to bag on the process, I understand why they do it this way now, people who just want to register and cause **** don't really like to shine to much light on their personal life and info. It might seem hokey to some, but it really is a way of trying to weed out blatant trouble makers or spammers right off the bat. Don't worry Bob, I know ya, and you'll fit right in. Come back on and tell them a little about your history and the cars you've had over the years (all of which have been killer, by the way) and they'll welcome with you with open arms. After that, think about reposting your opinions on OKC on the main board, where far more people will see it. As far as OKC, I haven't been in about 3 years. I was actually going to go just for the day this year, but was just too busy with work to do it. Sounds like a I didn't miss much. I know things got kinda wild there in the late eighties and early nineties, but OKC cops don't seem to understand moderation. They went from nothing to Gastapo in no time. Definately get the feeling that we're not welcome. As far as NSRA shows, Springfield is much better. Way better fairgrounds, friendly town, and a police force that seems to understand that crowd control doesn't have to involve a Howitzer. Busted asphalt and Dirt road? You know I'm no show queen, but that ****s. They're plenty of show queens there, and thats certainly no way to encourage them to come back. If they lose them, they're in trouble, cause the sure don't cater to most of the guys that frequent this forum (that why most of them were at the Lonestar). Thats why you won't find much love lost for the NSRA around here. Frankly, Goodguys have a much better program going, I just wish they would consider hosting one that wasn't in the middle of a NASCAR track
You sound like the same guy that was *****in' on another site I read. If you are so damn unhappy with the show, STAY IN TULSA! We don't want you down here! Oh, welcome to the board.
