What used to amaze me was all the guys trying to do V8 Pinto swaps, when a Maverick was already set up for a V8 and weighed about the same. There's a lady near me with a V8 Maverick and she is VERY serious when she says it's not for sale! It was her husbands and he did all the 70's tricks to it. Wheels/tires, headers, B&M shifter and a ton of stickers in the side rear windows. Hell, there were a few big block swaps rolling around here in the mid eighties. Very nice pavement pounders.

But this American Grafitti THING is an abomination and should be exorcised from the planet.

When shopping at Walgreens wait until you are out of the store before taking any drugs...

I'm gonna have to head over to Wal-Greens and see if I can pick one or two of those Mavericks up!!! Then 10 or 20 years I can sale it on e-bay for a fortune because you guys wouldn't buy them now...
Mavericks and Pintos are neat old cars and I'd like to have one. They are a lot better car then those Vagas were! Ford 6 and 4 bangers are great engines (this will stir things up!).

Actually, I did see a Gremlin in one of those "American Grafitti" cars at Walgreens the other day! That was even tastier than the Mav!! LOL!

"American Graffiti" has become a brand name for a toy company called motormax. You can even find a 2005 Magnum in their line-up:

2005 Black w/Flames Dodge Magnum RT Station Wagon American Graffiti Movie Series Diecast Toy Collectible
American Graffiti Series Die-Cast Replicas Motormax Toy Factory Diecast Collectable - 73600AG - 2007

I must have missed that car in the movie. Cheap, made in China, junk. George Lucas selling out our American heritage for a few more dollars.

11. Bill hicks was right, if you sell out like that you are off the artistic role. Theres a difference between payin' the bills and just whoring yourself out. I say #(*$& marketing.

I had a '72 Comet GT with a 302 and automatic. It was a little junky in build quality, never liked how it had a shelf below the dash instead of a glove box, and had a reeeaaally ugly '70s plaid interior, but it was a quick little thing and very reliable. I sort of miss it, in a way.

14. There was a roughly 1/64th scale "Graffitti" line out last year that included, among other things, 1971 and 1976 Chevrolet Impalas (two castings of what is essentially the same car??) and a Pontiac Fiero. The Maverick seems to be a crossover from their "Fresh Cherrys" or "Wild Cherries" line. They did a bunch of those cars in 1/87th scale, at $2.47 each the model railroad guys have scooped them up by the dozens.

First car was a 74 Maverick inherited from Grandma in mid-eighties. It was a 4 door, pea green! Like someone said earlier, memories, man. I'd buy one right now if it was cheap enough. Until then I'm goin' to Walgreens and see if I can buy some pea green paint from them too.

This car is kinda like winning a gold metal in the special olympics, even though you won, in the end you're still retarded!

My uncle used to scoop up Mavericks and run them at the drags. My grandfather had Ford dealership so Jake would get them from him and off he'd go to the races. Throw in a V8 and throw out the interior. Run it till it fell apart and get another one. Mighty Mavericks or Super Vomets. Gotta love 'em. We did a 'Duke Boy' jump at the local Firestone shop in my buddies Vomit. It was puke brown and it flew. Landing caused excessive sparks but it wasn't going to last much longer anyway.

The thing with the Pinto/Bobcat V8 swap was that it was real easy to do in a weekend with all factory Ford stuff from a Cobra II or V8 Mustang II, I had a few, and yes, they were fun as hell, go like shit off a shovel. Had a few Mav's and a Vomit, but used em for parts cars.

an old girlfriend had a Maverick "Grabber" with the 302 and the little hood scoops and at one point I had one of those Pinto fake woody wagons..I didn't feel too dorky driving either one of them..although I think I did have a leisure suit somewhere in the closet, and big sideburns..I guess I was a dork..OK, still am....

my buddy i ran around with in high school had a real nice grabber orange one with a 351 in it that we built and it was a real nice show car. fortunately he got smart and he is building a 57 T bird with rare Y-block speed goodies and a 4 speed. he wants it to look like you stepped back in 57 bought a new Bird and drove it straight to the local speed shop for a once over.
