    Ok,
I was waiting for some cool artwork on this, but I know that we are running out of time:(. The 50th Anniversary of the Broil-o-let! is actually the same day as C'Dueced's (exact same day as the Mustangs) birthday, so it wouldn't be too cool for me to drag her out to the sight and make her stand amonst the rubble @ 10:00am and sing her a "HAPPY B-Day to Harvey's & You!":p.
I probably wouldn't be heard from as she'd burry me somewhere.

So,That leaves us with my late Dad's Birthday (only fitting since he turned me on to all this stuff) Sat April 19th from 12-5pm @ the Nordic Fox Restaurant @ Paramount & 3rd in Downey.

We're looking to do a cruise over to the site and possibly get on the lot to shoot some shots before all of the debris is picked up.
I think that would be a nice scene, then dupe the shot when the restaurant is rebuilt and see if Jim would hang em side by side in the restaurant.
Anybody who has any pix/memories of the Harvey's & Johnie's Time
I'd love to see em and it would be nice to have them there other people to see.

The Midniters had a cruise night @ The Fox last eve and it was pretty cool, hope to see them there as well. So there you have it. See ya next Saturday!:D

Thats a great flyer Burny!! And CK is very sweet to make arrangements so that we can celebrate my 44th having some fun. Considering that on my 40th one, us and the Pasadena Roadster Club drove up to Mt Baldy in the pouring rain for a breakfast cruise. lol... Despite the rain, we had a good breakfast and we took the rain in stride and laughed all the way down the hill to Tommie's for a chili burger. Aaah fun times! The cruise should be awesome and having it on Ck's dads birthday is a great way to celebrate his life and spirit, as well as Harvey's/Johnie's. Congrats to all of you who supported this and never waned in your faith that Harvey's would rise from the ashes and survive. See you at teh cruise!!

Vic: Look, creep. You want a knuckle sandwich? Terry Fields: Uh, no thanks. I'm waiting for a double Chucky Chuck. Vic: Then keep your smart-*** mouth shut. ...

When he ran Lions, he used to stop in @ the Broiler for a bite of a Chubby Cheese Burger from Chubby the Champ.

Are they going to RESTORE what is left of the original building & make it LOOK like it did ?

OR are they gonna tear it down completely & build a BRAND NEW Bob's ?

I'm in, although I won't be able to get there until after 2.00pm as I have to weasel my way out early of a prior commitment.

C-Kev now you have the great Burny artwork, where's the T shirt - 'Saved the Broiler!'??? Thanks Burny, great job you did there. Make mine an XL.

Cruised by there today on a parts run and took a few shots.... so no evidence of any further destruction - as if there is much left to destroy. But of course the brain dead graffiti ***holes have been tagging what is left of it.

C'mon guys this is history in the making, where y'all at?

    Weasel,
Man, these are great present day shots! Just talked to Jim Louder today. Wheels are in moton and we should be seeing some action very soon,
The city is issuing some permits in order to rebuild the structure, some of it is gonna be duped.
Get there when you can, We'll be probably over @ the site @ that time=2pm.
We should get on the site somewhere @ that time for the shot only.
We can't walk aroiund it as it is deemed a construction site, so basically and in-n-out deal for the pic, the back onthe street.

We hope to see ya there guys. It really is history in the making.
We'll have the Save the Broiler shirts. We'll supply a marker for the
so anyone can write the D in, Lol! BTW Great Idea!

  23. Great Job CK !...maybe that menu should go in the gl*** case on some wall in the new building with the history of the broiler including the last years or so..that would let those who come into the Broiler understand what is means to people and thats the best way to p*** on the legacy..........

Was talking to Jim (Owner of Bob's Broiler) the other day and Adriene spoke with him yesterday , Good news, The AQMD report is a done deal and asbestos abatement cleanup will be done on 6/30.
Site clean up will commence on 7/7/08. The Fat Boy sign will be retained for those enthusiasts who love him. He will be placed on the right as you enter the drive to greet all that visit.

Big Boy signage will adorne the gigantic z shaped monicker, as well as the broiler script-(That in its self was a major undertaking).

Now the Bad News We lost an Original 1972 Chula Vista Architectured Bob's (Historically Intact) to Sonic Auto Group which will replace this Wilshire BL Landmark with a Beverly Hills BMW Show Room even though it's nowhere near BH. Even worse in that the are tearing down the 1950's built Lou Ehlers Cadillac dealership which is on the north side if the street..
That showroom is an instution in LA similiar to the Former Bob Spreen Cad also in Downey now named M***ey Cad and also owned by Sonic, as well as the Casa De Cadillac Showroom in Sherman Oaks. I mean c'mon How many land marks do we in LA need to lose:confused:.
We need to fight for these places, but I believe these two will soon be demo'd.Were working on getting the statue/signage,That restaurant was very clean and we need to find a new location for the owner of that franchise as she has 4 yrs left in her contract to Big Boy.

Can any of you guys help her? We even suggested Johnie's (Former Stan's Drive In,Romeo's Times Square-RAMS) Wilshire which would have been really cool considering its connection to the Broiler. It is owned by the Gold's who own the 99cent store chain and see it more as a location for shooting pictures which is situated across from the Petersen.

Now my real reason fro this report, Jim is talking to the builders and a drive-in is a great undertaking., I know that this was mostly intact before the demo occured, but Jim may not believe that the drive in will work based on what he had previously seen @ Toluca Lake on a winter saturday night .
We need to show him that this is what separated the Broiler from the others. Can and will we fill these car hop spaces:confused: based on what the builder says, it can be wired for ordering as one drives up. i prefer the old way where a waitress walks up to the car and takes the order.

Let Jim or even any member of the coalition know if you'll dig this feature, your feedback would be greatly appreciated
    thanx,

I will support any effort whatsover. Keeping the fatboy is great. Car service is even better. Its just a miracle that this is happening at all.
The grand opening will be a real zoo, we'll make sure of that...
    Great job, Kev........

    "Car service is even better!"
Thanks Doug, You know as you used to cruise there. Jim needs to hear this from more than just one car enthusiast. This will be a big undertaking and one helluva investment. In So.Cal. we have watched 3 Sonic Restaurants be built and then close in L.A.Orange and San Bernadino Counties in th 90's. The cruise nights were their biggest business nights!
Lets get more feedback on this so I can take this to Jim and show him that we care.
