i picked up a neglected tbucket project and desperately need to find out what these spindles are. mounting brakes on this thing is all thats slowin me down. any input would be greatly appreciated. i added a pic of the axle that i already had, i'll get more detail shots asap.
i have an axel like that one,its on my 33 plymouth 5 window coupe.those rotors dont belong on there originaly, they were drum brakes and bolt pattern is 5 on 4 1/2 and mine is set up for parrelal leaf springs.need more pics. filthy frank.
thanks frank! i'd be more than happy to go with drums if i can figure out what will fit. i'll pull the wheels today and get some more pics of the damn things. you've just given me hope.

Post up pics of the whole axle. Mid '30s Plymouth & Chrysler both had a similar tube axle but had Possibly a different brake ***y's. If the dip in the axle goes FORWARD.. you have a Plymouth. If the dip goes DOWN.. You have a Chrysler. HOWEVER.... DeSoto had an axle with the dip FORWARD but the tube diameter was larger due to it came from an AIRFLOW and needed to be heavy. Those spindles on that axle are Stock mid 30s MoPar and were Juice brakes with a 5on4 1/2 bolt pattern.
the dip appears to go both forward AND down, i'll get some more shots of it and post 'em. and thanks all you guys for takin an interest in helpin me cipher this out. a little encouragement is goin a long way in this case. more pics comin soon.
terrific!! now, any idea where to find drums to fit this thing? or caliper brackets? i'm open to any idea that doesn't involve a big hole in the floor for the "flintstone system".....
That looks like the 36 Plymouth setup I had on my car. I used the ECI disk kit. http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/dodge_plymouth_discbrake_conversions.html
You will need to hunt.... I have seen several at swap meets & have owned some also but all have gone away. here is a start 36 Plymouth parts wanted selling & for salet
success!! i managed to get truck drums from a 59 PU to work. even used the truck spindles. all the critical dimensions lined up. i only had to get the kingpin bosses on the axle hogged out to .875 turned out nice, just had to be patient and keep pluggin away. hope this info helps out somebody else strugglin with an oddball combo.
Better make sure the king pin inclination is the same on both. Even a 1 or 2 degree difference can be a problem. I I or \ / or \ /
had a good machine shop handle it. i'm confident they did the job right. nothin like havin a steerin failure at the exact moment your master cylinder falls out!......
