Reverse Eye Spring on One End

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by swade41, Apr 25, 2008.

  1. I have Plymouth trail duster rear springs under my 41 truck, 48 inches long with the pin dead nuts middle at 24. One end of the spring is reversed eye and the other is normal.
Which way would it go on to offer the lowest ride height for the truck. I've thought about this and one way it would lower the front of the spring in front but raise the ass, the other way raise front and lower ass. Is it half full or half empty ?

Think about the pinion angle, it'll increase or decrease depending on which way they're installed ... dearch if you want it lower

  4. My problem is that I'm getting new main leafs made with the pin a couple inches further back. I'm changing the wheelbase to better suit the look of the chop, it seems just a bit stubby to me now. I'm sure the guy will want to duplicate the spring with the eyes the way they are and just wondering which would go towards the front.
The truck sits good now just wondering which way to go. What would the eye position do to the pinion angle ?

What year are your springs? sounds like something I could use on my 38 project

  6. I'm pretty sure they are 1976, I remeber looking through a book to get the specs beacuase for some reason they would not make them without it. They are only two leafs per side but I forgot what the rates were, it was about 12 years ago..lol
