My son just bought a 66 Valiant (you guys would say Dodge, or even Chrysler perhaps) sedan. Now we agonise over whether to retrim the interior as original, or go custom. Ryan, your taste is impeccable, but it don't help us none with our decisions. Nice work!!

Hey Ryan, You're doin a VERY valuable service by showing the newer guys the thought process, backed up by modern net-based research in tandem with perussing mothbally old 'little pages' in the 'gentleman's business office' to have a totally matching, entertaining and AFFORDABLE concept that's not gonna age (unless its intentional). I'm just curios though....when you KNOW exactly how its gonna turn out.....doesn't it take away just a LITTLE bit of 'the magic' (as opposed to nightmare) of seeing how it turns out that first time you put it all together and roll it outta yer garage for that first 'stand back'? It always amused the hell outta me to hear these 60 year old guys all excited like a schoolgirl while talking about some 'quirky' choice for some SINGLE detail (interior insert fabric/door handles/bizarre objects modified into brackets etc) just coz they were designing OUTSIDE their comfort zone . Hell, after 40 or 50 years building cars, they know EVERY 'traditional way' to build a rod......the major challenge for THEM is straying from the norm while still remaining trad....while US guys are just trying to get some brakes that'll work or getting that swap meet wheel to fit on that GM column! I guess in a very round-about way, maybe my point is that the stuff you do always looks sooooo awesome and perfectly detailed (and killer photography/editing helps a ****load too!) .......maybe I feel like you almost make it look too easy ??? Perhaps you could give us the scarred knuckles side of the story too......or the 'out-there' napkin sketches that never went through to fruition ???? Mark in Japan
hmmm RYAN must be ridin around in those 70's novas , camaros and impalas had a strong influence on your interior comfort zone.. ... you know fallin asleep on the back seat .. no pillow... without seat belts drooling all over the cushion... one hand wedged between the bottom and back cushion.. trying to not fall off during the harder braking... ... coming home late from ...races , holiday at grammas....?????? maybe waking up with the material pattern on one side of your damp face..... true or not true?

Actually used the rear jump seat from a 50's Desoto wagon as a kids bench in the ba*****t for watchingTV .. picked at the silver welting until it fell apart.

I was reading this entry for ideas for about the 50th time. Between this and your 3 "Inspiration" entries a person can get really motivated. Old thread but aplicable to the thought process.
BTTT, been looking at seat ideas for the GMC this post and this, http://singervehicledesign.com/works/ have me looking at woolens, plaids and hounds tooth patterns. Anyone got a good source for patterned wool?
