So I have a couple months of Army training in Sacramento starting middle of May. What do I do in my time off around there? I want to drive down to Muroc for sure, but where is a Suede to go to get his car fix? Help me brothers. I just want to see all the great car sights and places that I have been reading about my whole life. So many places, so little time. What are my priorities? Thanks guys.

the poor boys show is the best in sacramento, and i think that's in July. Hopefully you'll still be around.

Muroc is OK but the Air Force won't let you do much there. If you can hit El Mirage on May 17 or June 22 that might be better. For cars and stuff.

Well, if you want to be like the locals, a lot of Meth and get some 15 year old pregnant. The quintessential central valley experience.

  5. OZ Customs is a couple of hours North of there. Oroville.

Midnight Mass is July 26th(the poor Boys show) at Cal Expo this year.

These are farther (2-2 1/2 hour drive) and are good shows if you can make it.
Blue Jean Bop at the Saddle Rack in Fremont May 18th.
the Last Originals Show June 18th at Sea Bowl in Pacifica(Across the street from the Beach)
The Strangers Annual BBQ July 13th at Kelley Park in San Jose.

general things you need to do...

    Go to Tahoe
    Go to Yosemite
    Go to Napa/Sonoma Valleys
    Go to San Fran
The Railroad Museum in Old Sac is WAY cool
The Towe Auto Museum is as well http://www.toweautomuseum.org/
The Jazz Festival is worth checking out. The Friday Night Zydeco Party RULES!!!
    Midnight Mass for SURE
Sacramento Vintage Ford is good for an hour or so of walking around in, they also have once a month friday night cruise nights.

the BlackHawk Museum is about 1.5 hours away in the Bay Area. WELL worth the trip.

summer in sac? it's hot as hell and that's not just an expression, it's literally hot as hell. As an added bonus, you're right close to some serious Deliverance Country. Do your stint and get the hell out. California sucks and I can't wait for it to drop into the ocean and take all the socialist commies with it.

Can't be any hotter than Iraq. More humid maybe. I was in cali during october to pick up my chevelle and that was beautiful.

    You sound angry.

Thanks Choptop, thats what I'm looking for! As for all the military areas, we'll see where I can get into.

    what makes it such crap?

we have temperate weather year round, but yet get a good change of seasons. Its gets just as hot in So.Cal. but it doesnt get as cold down there. No Winter. Plus you dont live near as many cool things down there. It stays cooler north of here, but it rains all the friggin time. The weather is about right.

it gets over 100 degrees about 5-6 days each summer. Thats it. Otherwise its in the 90's, with little no humidity. Just like L.A. without the smog. The Delta breeze kicks in every night at about 7:30pm and drops the temp about 10 degrees. Nice.

The coldest I've ever seen it in winter was a few years back when it hit 18 degrees. Thats it. Normally it stays right at 32 degrees at night, high 30's-40s during the day. It can be foggy in the valley for about 2-3 weeks out of the year.

Sac is close to lots of cool places, yet you dont have to put up with living in those places. San Fran is great, cept for the traffic and cost of living. In 1.5 hours you can be there and come home at night. Tahoe is stunning, yet the snow in winter can be a hassle to live in and the cost is out of sight. Same time frame for a visit. Great day trips in any direction, but yet none of the hassles of living in a tourist area.

we are .5 hours from good foothill roads for riding/driving. There are hundreds of miles of waterways for skiing and fishing. 2 rivers in town, large lakes all around. There is good hunting very close-by. There are great car clubs and auto happenings in the area. We are within 3 hours drive of 3 world class race tracks.

    sounds pretty shitty to me.

personally i like it, and I've lived all over the country. Others dont, they are welcome to live someplace else.

    Wow. lol.

Personally, I think it's great when people talk shit about California. We have got too many damn transplants here anyway.

Let's make sure to fall off into the Ocean w/ our economy and see how the rest of the country survives :)

This is getting retarded. Why is this guy so bent on pissing everybody off?

I appreciate everybody's invitations and positive input. The deal is I'll be here without my wife, so I won't get unadulterated car time in Cali like this again, ya know? Just want to experience the scene.

Why is retarded still here? Ryan?
