I've heard of using diluted muratic acid. Never used it myself but its strong stuff and will do the trick. Home Depot sells it I believe.

Brake drum/disc cleaner spray seems to work well.

Oh, if they're not stains (just spots) then just about any solvent should clean them up (carfull what you use, most are flamable).

Grease eater, from parts houses or Costco works fairly well.

Back before safety issues were on every ones mind we used a mix of Tide, gas and water in a 5 gal bucket but I wouldn't suggest that today.

  9. A jack hammer works well.

  10. Kitty litter. Put a pile on the floor and grind it in with your feet, then just leave it. After a few days it seems to suck the oil right out of the concrete.

  11. I suck it up with kitty litter then spray the rest off with starting fluid. Concrete is as clean as the day it was finished.

There are people who make a living cleaning concrete driveways and such with high pressure hot water cleaning equipment.

I get oven cleaner at the dollar store. you can clean a large stain for $2

  16. Mom used to use kerosene and news papers, wet it down and when dry it soaks the stain into the paper, may have to repeat. ME? "Kitty Litter", actually oil dry, much cheaper than kitty litter.

I use naptha or charcoal lighter (which is mostly naptha). Pour some on, take a stiff brush and scrub it then put kitty litter on it to soak it up. Spot is now cleaner than the rest of the floor.

If the stain isn't too bad, even Simple Green will do it but the brake cleaner works best. If it's only a little spot ,I'll scuff in some speedy dry with my foot and it takes them out.

I use endangered owls. They are hard to catch but shockingly absorbant. The mop better if you can get the wings to stay spread out. I figure that they wouldn't call them spotted owls if they weren't meant to be used for spots.

I use gas and sawdust mixed together and swept back and forth with a shop broom. Door open, fan on, no flames. Be careful but it works, and I always have the stuff on hand.

Get a 20 lb bag of kitty litter and a couple crankcases of well used motor oil.
spread the oil evenly over the entire floor and let stand for a few hours, go have a beer, watch a game or whatever.
Then spread the kitty litter over the whole thing to soak up what's still on the surface. (Dispose of that mess in a proper Green way, of course)
Now the floor will have a hardly noticable even oil stain on the whole floor and you can go on with doing what you should be doing in a garage!

(Yea, I wrote that just for fun...) ;)

Yep kitty litter, but I spray the floor lightly with mineral spirits first. It speeds up the whole process. The problem is, you will now have a really clean spot on your garage floor. You'll either have to clean the rest of the garage or put some oil back on it to blend it back in.
I've just stopped cleaning them up, oil dry makes a great non slip surface.

  29. A gallon of Gas and a Match works wonders!
    Just my 3 cents!

I have found that a t-shirt will soak it up...typically, you have to be wearing said T-shirt.
