HAMB BBQ in SoCal! Still worth doing?

May 18th (day after) it the THEM Bar-b-q at Old Crow and May 31 is Santa Maria isnt it? How about in June??? I don't think theres many shows in June

Only if there's alcohol! I'd like to keep that to a minimum. On the downlow...(can't believe I just used that term,LOL!!!!). I think it's okay, if you use cups. NO bottles or cans.

How about the 21st?

 

June 14th is L.A. Roadster's Show & Swap. A 3-day event if you sell (I am). The weekend before that is...dare I say...the VW Classics in Irvine. Some of us still dig 'em, and that's the best show (for VW's) all year in So. Cal. How about June 21st, or 28th. No Pomona or Long Beach swaps those weekends. As far as next year, the first weekend in April is good, and seems appropriate since it's close to April-fool's day.

 

I've just been informed that alcohol isn't allowed in the park! Anybody who brings some, is on their own! I don't drink,and I don't care what other people do. BUT,I just hate to see us get kicked out.

Yeah, the Sheriffs patrol So. El monte, and aren't the nicest. Through the years there's been problems in the park with various car-clubs, booze, gangs, etc. so, they're not very lenient.

 

What about the other 'lake' ...Santa Fe Dam?

San Pedro is the Luau, which was the same idea ... bring something to the table and bring your ride. it was started by lowsprings too.

but a word of advice. Have everyone that says they're in RSVP no later than a week before. Assign them a # at that time for your own records.
You'll know how many shirts to pick, roughly how big of the lot to take.
Is Dante still throwing the Luau? I liked that last year!

 

im not sure, it is definately a good idea though, the location is a real selling point.
it almost didn't happen last year, too many things on his plate, at the time.

 

I'm in.. i could walk there from my house!... RSVP is a good idea.. and if theres a way to keep the trouble makers out i'd say do it, thats when the cops start getting pissy.

now from doing these in the past. i would highly recommend El Dorado park. it's cleaner, greener, much better for families. they have a train ride for the kids. also there is a stage there if you reserve it in time you can get a band to play.

i picked Legg Lake out of convince that one time. not cause i liked it. also another show was hosted there and problems happened and the cops shut it down. so they might have ruined it for others, who knows though.

Yes, i will still be doing the Luau for The Lowdown. it will be in Sept. i have picked a final date though.
