I just got this from a buddy, take heed. BB <DD>Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway work zones </U>starting in July. <DD>Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways. </B><DD> <DD>Anyone caught by these devices will be mailed a ticket as follows;<DD> </B><DD>$375.00 ticket for the FIRST offense, but the SECOND offense will cost $1000.00 and comes with a 90-Day suspension. </B> <DD> <DD>Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license , which allows insurance companies to raise their rates. </B> <DD> <DD>This represents the harshest penalty structure yet for a city or state using PHOTO enforcements. The State will begin with TWO camera vans issuing tickets in work zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH. </B> <DD> <DD> </B> <DD>Photographs of both the Driver's face and License plate are taken. </B> <DD> <DD>Pass this on to everyone you know. <DD>For more info: </B> </U><DD>http://www.dot.state.il.us/press/r033005.html </B> <DD> <DD>SLOW DOWN! - Big Brother is watching! </DD>
SLOW DOWN! You might kill someone, maybe even a HAMBer. I used to work on highway construction. Unless you have, you have no idea how many A-holes drive, well...like A-HOLES through construction zones. Saw some drivers get their asses whipped. Worse, I saw guys get clipped by cars. </DD>
same here just the plate on the back. the city i live in has cameras at certain intersections to see if you run the light or if there is an accident they can go back and look at what happened. of course if you run the light you get a ticket, but now they are talking about scanning the faces and running a check on them for any hits. they call it some kinda "Anti Terrorist" thing but in reality its just big brother wanting to make some money. they do the same thing at the Super Bowl and big sporting events when you walk in you get scanned. thats why im so glad im moving out in the boonies away from any big cities and their problems/taxes. i can fill my fields with future projects and build the big shop it takes to work on them. but then again there is the satilite technology..........
well..thanks for the heads up..I sent it to 3 of my good friends and some family..that are out that way.. i promise to only rant this once.....Its all about the fuckin' money!..not safety if it were about safety they would be out there in highly visible cars and traveling along with traffic keeping it at a safe speed..not playing the fuckin' gotcha games.!
the goverment has found these cameras to be a great source of revenue so expect to see lots of cameras everywhere from now on.
I thought you guys hated flat black? Oh, I get it.....you DO hate flat black. You're framing the guys that LIKE flat black! I see how it is!
LMAO now that is some funny shit! lemme tell ya a lil something about illinois and highway cams and shit like that. this is comming from driving about 45 thousand miles a year for the last 5 years in illinois driving a semi up till last fall, so take it as ya like... the speed zone cameras arent hooked up. how do i know this? they need to have a radar system active in order to trigger... i only came across ONE (1) in illinois that actually worked that had a camera setup and yes, you can tell the difference between a generic "you are going this fast, slow down" deal and a camera wagon...camera wagons arent labeled. only cameras that DO work are the ones at toll plazas, and those arent even state owned seein as how the toll road is a private deal, and the DOT traffic cams that the radio and TV stations use to judge the traffic reports off of.
Please slow down in construction areas. I work on the side of the road all the time in a 40' bucket truck. Most people don't slow down for me with all my strobes and flashers going and my cones out all over the place.
Yes!! Slow down!! My brother is working out there too! I don't want to see anyone get hurt or killed. Nothing is that important to get to going 70mph.
This has been in place for quite a while, but thanks for the "reminder" BobK! It is mostly used in the Chicago area, but the real thing to look for is the ISP on motorcycles. Personally I have no use for the cameras...they are just for generating revenue.
I agree that people should definately slow down in active construction zones, I do. My biggest complaint is that whoever declares areas "construction zones" is waaay to liberal with the term. I will pass a sign on the side of a perfectly open road that says "construction zone, speed fines doubled" and then not see any sign of construction for several miles, if at all. I'm all for protecting workers on the side of the road, but it's the boy who cried wolf syndrome. You start putting these signs up everywhere and people stop paying attention to them.
lucky bastard. in Texas, everyone with a new Lexus, Vette, or pretty much any exotic car doesnt have a front plate. comes from the dealer that way, and they never get fucked with. but god forbid you have anything custom, it's ticket time. doesnt even matter if you have it in your windshield or on your dash. the law says it has to be at the front most part of the vehicle. same thing out back. i hate that law with a passion.
You notice how todays cop cars have stealth lightbars or even lights hidd4en in the grill or corners of the windshield? Years ago, you saw a cop miles ahead and slowed down if you were over. Now they hope YOU DONT see tehm so they can write a revenue generating ticket!
You betcha Tman..and now here in Michigan they have faded graphics on the cars so you cant even tell from 50 feet away looking dead on the side of the cruzer..say for instance the cop car is black..the graphics are dark grey...fuckin' posers..folks its not about law enforcement any more, so dont fool your selfs. And to you cops on the board, your not fooling anyone either..I know you have to go along with what your supervisors tell you to do..but remember. This used to be America! and your not helping any.
Last time I was in IL I went through a speed trap at the Iowa Illinois border at Davenport IA. It dropped to something like 50MPH? Anyway its about 4 A.M. and theres only a few cars on the road and crossing the bridge at night your looking at the river front and all the neon. I see flashing lights behind us and it was just luck he pulled over the car behind us. The bad part was we crossed alll the way into Iowa and the cop wrote the guy behind us a ticket. My brother said thats nice come visit Illinois again and take this with you. My brothers a truck driver and he said thats just wrong.
If you are speeding in a work zone you get what's coming to ya. How would you like it if some jack off blew by your desk at 75 MPH?
My Illinois Construction Zone story! Illinois has always been a bit ... um .. strict with their enforcement in construction zones. I've always treated construction zone speed limits as a sort of Gospel thing. One weekend I was driving to Chicago from St. Louis and I came upon a construction zone ... 45 MPH - fines double - only one lane open. OK ... 45 it is! After a while this yayhoo in a BMW comes flying up behind me. Now, he's important and in a hurry. He starts the universal "move over" flashing of his lights. There ain't nowhere to go, and I'm NOT speeding up! After several miles. he's about to have a coronary! He's screaming (I can almost hear him), flashing his lights, honking his horn and, eventually, letting me know I'm number one in his life! No sir ... I'm not speeding up, there's ALWAYS a trooper in this construction zone (had been the last 4 times I had been through). Well, NEAR the end of the construction zone, it widens back to two lanes, but the zone doesn't end for about half a mile. Well, Mr Beemer slams himself into the fast lane and blasts by me (and the trooper sitting there). He was still accellerating when the trooper pulled out and hit his lights. I guess he thought he was gonna get away. Yepper! I waved as I went by ... the trooper waved back! Mr Beemer? He wasn't so friendly; not so much as a "Good Day!" My moral? "Construction Zone Speed Limits = The 11th Commandment!" Deano
I agree and thats a good point..constuction zones deserve the respect..i was ranting about something totally un related to the work zones.. I do alot of Concrete restoration on Bridges, so i can realte to the jerk offs who fly by my desk at 70+ mph!
remember that when you see a drunk in a beemer scream past you and your family at 90 mph all over the road. things are alot worse out there now than they were years ago. speed limits have increased dramatically, and peopel always go above the speed limit anyway. the majority of cops are not picking on anyone when they pull them over. they are doing their job. the general public is against cops these days, and they need all the cover they can get to catch the dumbasses out there.
My dad's best mate got hit doing road work years ago....put him in a coma...when he got out of it, he was brain damaged and health-wise, never 100%. He died well before his time.....about 10 years ago. I ALWAYS slow down in construction zones. To do otherwise is just being an arsehole. The cameras shouldn't matter if you're doing the RIGHT thing.
