Christ!!!! Suddenly my fucked up health ain,t so bad after all.... Kudo,s to you Oldskoolmini for having the courage to carry on where many others would give up.
Oldskoolmini, man,I read your post several times,it's heartbreaking. You're young, you lived through something that should have killed you.Medical science is advancing rapidly,a day will come when the docs will be able to get you up and moving again.Good luck to you!
That gave me chills man...i dont even know what to say, your stronger than me i wouldnt be able to live like that, hope you get better and dont give up.
Wow Mini your deffiently one strong dude and my prayers go out for ya. My buddy hit a moose in a gmc 5500 Truck with a utility body on the back and let me tell you I have never seen this bad of damage from a truck hitting a wall head on haha He was doing 50mph and the speedlimit was 45 so speeding was not a factor. The trucks front frame rails were bent the motor was kicked back and front section thats fiberglass was obliterated and the moose went up onto the top of the cowl crushing the firewall and twisted the whole cab back 6 inches. It was a pain in the ass to fix and I would hope that no one would ever hit a moose in a normal car or truck since my god this much damge was done to a 5500 which is a huge truck. What the hell kind of question is this????
as someone who cleans this type of stuff up on a daily basis all i can say is wear a seatbelt and drive the speed limit.
Hate to have to kill a critter, but sometimes it is for the best. A friend hit a deer with his 53 Chevy kustom (one very beautiful car) at about 70 mph. Push the front bumper above the windshield but he lived. Had he hit the brakes the truck behind him would have hit him. If he would have swerved he would have likely hit a bridge support, and would have been dead for his efforts to save Bambi. The insurance company paid for a complete rebuild because of hitting a dumb animal. Had he chosen one of the other solutions their generosity would have been substantially less. Glad to hear that the girl was okay. Unfortunately there are a lot of people today, kids as well as adults, who think they are immortal.
When I was learning to drive, first thing my Dad instilled upon me was to not swerve for animals. To quote him "Hit the brakes, hit the horn, hit the deer. Just don't hit the ditch." Its worked for me so far and those words ring in my head almost every time I get behind the wheel.
she is very lucky to be alive......... 6 kids where killed in 3 separate accidents within a month and half of each other, in my town and the next town over. all where not waering seat belts and also they where driving at a high speed.
That's exactly what the cop told my sister, when she hit a 2 deer, at the same time, about 5 years ago. It's much easier to convince the insurance company to pay up when there's an immediate police report with blood and guts on the vehicle. A guy at work is going round with his insurance company because their response was; "How do we know that you didn't just fall asleep or run off the road on purpose?" My motto is, "If it's brown it's down." Sorry for the insensitivity, but I refuse to risk my life, or someone else's, for a pet or stupid animal that shouldn't be in the road in the first place.
A buddy of mine hit a cow in a 67 C-10 once. ( I was pretty young at the time) I asked him why he didn't swerve and he said "Put a bullseye on the bowtie. You can always build another truck." Then we went behind the barn and he showed me a rolled station wagon. apparently, His brother died trying to avoid a dog. Since then, I have had alot less reguard for the animal kingdom whilst driving.
