Aggghhhh!!! It's all your fault. Every bit of it. Yeah, You.

It'd been plaguing my thoughts lately, and I've been in heavy denial, like trying to ignore the elephant in the living room. But in the last few days I have been awash with conflicting emotions and fighting for air. And I broke the surface and it came to me. I want one. I need one. I can't live without it anymore. And it's all your fault ... you Model A people.
Here I've been, plugging away collecting parts for my 1950 Chevy to make a tasteful mild custom. I found the HAMB shortly after I acquired my Styleline and haven't looked back since. But everywhere I go, in one thread or another, there is another magnificent Model A staring me in the eye. It's like the girl you meet on the first day at school, who's kinda cute, but you're already going steady with someone else. So you ignore her. But she keeps casting glances at you in the halls and at recess, and pretty soon she's slipping you notes in class, and she's all you can think about late at night when you're lying in bed with the lights off. Pretty soon, you're starting to look at your old girlfriend with a more critical eye. "Maybe she's not the one for me." Before you know it you've got the new girl pressed up against the wall in the janitor's closet with her cheerleaders skirt hiked all the way up and her maryjanes pokin' you in the back and her tounge down your throat, and ...
    well, you get the idea.
My crush has turned into an infatuation and now I'm going to throw in the towel and try to get my money back on my old Chevy and slap it all down for a few rusty pieces that will somehow have enough bits of metal left under all that oxidation to magically magnetize themselves into a Model-god-damned-A.
    I hope you're happy.
Why can't I have both you ask? No, I've come to the realization that I am not the lovechild of Superman/Plowboy and Donald Trump. I don't have the money, space or skills to have it all. I'm the faithful sort, and have realized that the only way I'm going to have a car I WANT on the road before I am an official greybeard is if I buckle down and throw all my cash and energy at something I'm behind 100% with a nice big clean spot in the garage. That's my justification. Yeah.
So, I'd ask you to forgive my rant, but I blame you guys for this infection ... it has spread and I've got it, and for all intents and purposes it appears to be terminal.
Peace out. I'm going to go take pictures of my Chevy and start lookin' for my new bride.

Damn right it's corrupting but for SOME reason we stay and love it here. I've been thinking about turning my 55 Chev into a 5 window Model A with a 472 Caddy, M-22 and real tall gears. Man that sounds like a real fun ride to me:D

I seriously thought about an A also. With kids I decided that I still needed the back seat. (No, the wife nor kid will ride in a rumble seat)

    Welcome to the dark side...
NOW...all I want is to build another, better one! ( on deuce rails...);)
Mine is full-on half-assed...and ya' know what? I still love it more than any other car I've ever built or owned.
    good luck!
good bodies are getting 'spensive... they tend toward paper-thinness.
The right hand side of mine has the texture of a friggin' golf ball, from being hammered back from a thousand near fatal experinces that I will never even know about...
It contains one or more of the following: Lead. Plastic. Fiberglass. Brass. Tin. Wood. you name it, its adhered to it over the 70 plus years of being kicked around our country...
I'll sell ya' mine...I want a '34 Ford now...I could probably almost buy a couple doors and a cowl for what I'd get out of it!
ehhh...f-it, at least I don't drive around in a perpetual state of panic, because I'm in an inherently replaceble "yet another unfinished model-freakin' A".
    I love 'em...

As a two time member of AA (A's Anonymous), I recommend that you look away quickly, lest you be consumed by the sirens song and drift onto the rocks! Leave the rest of the existing A's to us unfortunate souls that have tasted the forbidden fruit, and are hopelessly enslaved for eternity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AWAY, MAN, LOOK AWAY QUICKLY!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Thanks for all the encouraging words. It does kind of feel like an AA meeting. Admission is the first step right? And as far as looking away - it's too late, I've been trying for a couple years now and I have to face facts.

I DID find a couple goodies this afternoon, which basically pushed me over the edge and prompted my gushing admission. Stay tuned for pics and I'd appreciate your help identifying just what is what when and if I can track down the owner.

Bwahaha!!! That seriously made me laugh! I have felt these very things more times than I can count. It's so damn frustrating sometimes. It's like going to your favorite restaraunt when you're hungry and you want one of each item on the menu but your belly isn't big enough and payday isn't until tomorrow.

Seriously though, good luck on your search for the new project man and keep us posted!

I used to be into the muscle car thing, then AG hit me like a plaque. Screw the muscle cars, I want a HOT ROD. It took years, but I got and built my 32' 3 window. Everything I ever wanted. Hiboy, big n' littles, tri-power, black as night, bright yellow engine with a white interior with yellow inserts. It was my dream car, best of everything. After a few years, reality sets in. It's a pain to keep clean. Detailing every nook and cranny. After 6 years, I sold it.

Now I have a Model A hiboy that I drive everywhere and I don't care if it gets dirty. Most fun I ever had.............

You'll get your A....you'll have your fun...then. Someday you will see something that is different, kinda cool, but different. I mean some kinda strange...like the square girl that wears thick glasses, but has a killer set of get-away-sticks. Then you will be lying awake, starring at the dark, and onto a whole other thing. I am a perfect example. Look at my screen name...kustomfordman. And what am I doin'? Building a Dodge with a great set of get-away-sticks! Good luck with those maryjanes.

What will happen next is you will search every local parts yard withen a 200 mile radius. You will spend countless hours on auction sights and this sight. You will stare for hours on end at rusting metal. Your wife will ask" How can you spend 3 hours staring at all that rusty metal?" You will gladly keep staring dreaming of the possibilities. You are getting sleepy..... Ok maybe not. But the hunting of model A parts is half the fun. When you walk in to an old barn full of pieces and parts you will feel like Indiana Jones walking in to the temple for the gold statue.

Good luck, I've got three of them. One sedan and two roadsters. That means I still need at least one coupe and one closed cab truck before I'm remotely happy.

You think you have it bad???? LISTEN UP!!!!
I bought a original '32 fod sedan back in '95 (when they were cheaper). Took my time and put it on the road in about 2000 as a hot rod. Good reliable car...have driven it everywhere.
Last sep. I decided I wanted a roadster being as I was about to retire and would have time to work on it. Found a '29 sport coupe and have turned it into a roadster. I have the frame and all suspension painted and back together. The body work and paint will be finished in a couple of weeks and I will be putting it all back together and finishing it probably by the end of june...first of july.
Is'nt that enough cars???? Are'nt two cars enough to take care care of ???? Oh hell no....not for my dumbass!!!!:D
Run across a '63 ford galaxie two door at Tom Culbertsons shop here in Indy having some work done on it. Bad ass 390 fe...big cam...long tube headers...4 speed....471 posi rear...etc...etc.
I now have a big 'ol ugly galaxie I'm gonna turn into a super/stock runner!!!! I have a two car garage and hafta rent the neighbors garage for the galaxie!!!!:D:D
    I think I may have just lost what little mind I had left...but ain't it fun!!! Good thing I don't have a girlfriend...because I sure can't afford one now!!!:rolleyes::D:D
