Well they would be in motion if they weren't chained together!

That car and Shawrys T were THE hotrods when I was younger. I remember watching Mark take his tumble at Heathcote.

I guess this picture needs an explanation..... This was a promotional photo for Locktite Corp. The King and Marshall AA/FC and AA/FD were hired to demonstate the strenth of their product. That is actually a two piece cable joined together by one of their adhesives. The test took place in the infeild of Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts around 1970.

Looks like Jim Zakia's '55 at Niagara Dragway in Niagara Falls. (Don't know the photographer) For more info on Zakia and his cars go to http://www.sundayniagara.com/mkjzakia_1.html

Saw a interview with the driver of the Hairy Olds on tv. He said Hairy went wherever Hairy wanted to go, he was just a passenger in that thing:eek:

I took these in 64 at our local strip, a converted landing strip at an old WWII AAF base in Santa Maria. Local car club was the Dragons. No digital camera here...was a $10.00 Kodak with a fixed lens. 4th pic you can see the starter with the switch in his hand. If I recall correctly there was no "xmas tree", just stage and go. The area was covered in Eucalyptus trees, including the end of the strip. I recall one accident where a dragster could not stop and hit them. The only barrier between the stands and cars was a 4 foot high chain link fence. What fun!

Despite landing up side down, the car was not seriously damaged. The car was repaired and to show they were good sports, they added a caster wheel to the top of the roll cage. The car is still around and restored as a cackle car capabile of 1/8th mile passes.
