That MUST be built in "full scale"!!
The way the top flows down into the chrome trim on the quarter panel is perfect!

I agree, that window line vanishing into the side trim works.

I have an interesting project I'd like to share, but it's a '60s dragster, rather than a vintage rod. It was built by eight friends, and organized by a very likeable Denver modeler, who has since passed away from cancer.

    Interested?

Zed, I love that car! "Blue Danube" is what My son likens it to. Very, very sweet stuff!

Last week a request was made for more of my '57. I originally chopped it in 1978. I was in the 8th grade. I'd talked my brother out of this kit; it was an original AMT 3 in 1. I'd always planned to use all the custom parts but lost them over the years so when AMT reissued it a few years ago and Walmart sold it for 5 bucks, I snatched up another one for the parts. This thing wasa candy apple red bomb with a blown Hemi jacked up 14" with 4 wheel drive and off road tires. Thank God it's been rescued and given a more dignified
existence. Oh, yeah, the interior was a work of art,...more on that later...
(I'll find the one existing photo of the car and post it at a later date.)

Here's a couple more. The Impala is one My son Ian and I built to his specs; the tub is one my same older brother gave me along with the Bel Air and started out an original
Monogram Early Iron hot rod kit.

(First some sketches inspired by the model...)

Just some in-progress crap from me this time, I haven't actually finished a car in a little while now. I should try to fix that.

Here is a Revell/Model King 54 Chevy that has been chopped and sectioned:

and a Monogram '36 3W coupe that has been chopped about 2 1/2 scale inches. I had to cut the roof into five pieces to make it all line up again at its new altitude.

still lots of work left on both before the paint can fly, but slowly progress is getting made.

Looks like a near clone to Zocchi's old 54 merc that now resides in the Northwest. Even the same color and trim. And.............Yes! I know it's a 50 Ford model.

All very conservative, by model standards. Very nice.

Jigger, that Buick trim looks great!

    Thanks for posting, guys!

It would be real hard to tell this was a model, from this view, if someone wasn't told otherwise.
    Very cool.

  24. Here is another of it. Its HOK Candy Kobalt Blue over course metalflake. The white is topped off with blue pearl.
    Lots of fun...

    Awe, Thanks Mo,

  27. Believe it or not Tuff Tin, that's where I first saw that color combo, I always liked Zocchi's Merc, in fact when I built My 54 that was the plan but I got nervous that My bodywork probably wasn't as straight as his and was afraid of the dark blue! So I did Wimbleton White and a Baby Blue. When I started the model, I knew it was gonna be the Dark and light blue, I really like the combo!
