This was being sold some time back on the web. Does anyone know who ended up with it or if its being finished?
I will defend to the death every mans right to do whatever they want to with their own car. But the rear end of that thing is so ugly it makes my eyes cross. bbtom
Seems like nobody on this board likes full customs much, every time someone posts one the comments run about 80%-20% against them.
Don't really give a **** about anybody's half *** opinions, was just curious as to it's whereabouts. I would just like to look it over, not have *** with it.-MIKE
Give 'em hell, mike I dig it. Tho I think I would find some different tail-lights. Sorry, no clue as to it's whereabouts.
Agreed...this is a 'hot rod' site...was started that way and is populated that way...and that's the number One reason I don't post pix of my rad '57 Chevy on here...the thread would run 50 pages of bashing... Everyone has their own opinion of "Kustoms"...I like them and I like that truk...it takes a certain kind of person to build something like that...a "hot rod" doesn't take much thinking, IMHO...frame, engine, square body, wheels and tires...what's to think about...??? R-
I guess it depends on what you define as full custom... I think you will get this general reaction from folks here: Ugly: Cool: I think if you look at the above it's pretty obvious why customs died in the late 60s... Craftsmen lost site of the art. I think its that at***ude that drives the HAMB on customs. Tasteful stuff that is driven by improving factory lines and streamlining is almost always received well. Pastel colors, body mods for the sake of body mods, over the top style, etc... isn't. As for the truck in question, I think I dig it actually... Would need to be a single dark color to toot my horn though.
Looks like the builder was influenced by the Kopper Kart. I'd like to see it in finished form. Can somebody paint it and get some period correct wheel/tires on it? For some reason I'm just into this ride.
Ok Ryan I thought you'd been warned about posting pictures of the Phoenician or Greecian or whatever that yellow thing was called. Ackk, Gag
Personally I like the yellow one very much. It reminds me of the face my girlfriend made when "big earl" came-a-knockin on her back door. Of course, if someone stuffed a polish sausage up my tailpipe, I'd probably make the same face too... Wait a minute... Please forget I said that.
I think you just "bashed" everyone who is building a hot rod. I like the front clip on that thing. I too would like to see if it ended up with someone who will finish it up.
I take it there's no engine installed. I think I might like it more if it was level or leaned forward a bit and I'm wondering what the stance was like originally.
I'd almost bet that was just about as far as the truck has ever been finished. It may also have been p***ed through several hands with each having added a bit to it. It would be interesting to see what one of the photoshop guys or someone good with a drawing pencil could make that look like on paper or a modified photo. I'm probably a bit more of a custom car/truck guy if I had to choose but I have always believed that a custom should make a stock vehicle the same model look like it is over done or has something wrong with it. I don't believe in adding **** for the sake of adding ****. I also don't believe in doing modifications just for the sake of having X number of modifications. The yellow thing in the previous photos has always looked to me like someone took out the ISCA show check list and figured out how many modifications they had to make at X # points per modification. It is typical of the "custom" that have changes for the sake of change and add ons for the sake of add ons in order to pad the show judging sheet for good or bad. And no matter what you show a photo of on this forum a certain element will crawl out from under their rocks long enough to post a few negative comments an then go back under the rock until they are offered another opportunity to come back out. Funny thing no one has ever seen a photo of most of those guys cars if they even have one.
