This car would look way more "trad" without the modern pearl paint. I would love to see it in an enamel maroon or even dark green...I would even prefer suede black with red steelies

 

well since this thread has devolved from a whats new to whats your favorite custom thought I would post my favorite. It was built by bones Noteboom and currently is owned by Steve Linnenkamp of Spokane Washington.



Here is a local built car that would have been a very cool custom if they would have painted it a more traditional color than the street rod two tone. Put better wheels and tires on it and used more traditional headlights and taillights. The car sold at Barrett Jackson for 430,000.

 

If everyone who posted comments and multiple images over and over again, would go back now and delete them it would condense this down and make it an AWESOME thread! Shame it takes so long to wade through all that clutter.

Anyways the first pearl one is awesome and I agree another color would be great but hell I wouldn't care owning it with the pearl either.

 

figured i'd post my dad's '50 merc up on here too, most of the metal work is complete, almost ready to start doin bodywork.

I see a line from the door to the rear Quater, is he planning to get rid of the bump in the body line (guess that is what you call it)

yeah, that line you see is there because we are planning on pulling the bodyline out to look kind of like the sam barris merc. i'll post updates as we get it done on a new thread. thanks for the compliments.

 

The fadeaway is tough to pull off nicely. Somehow, I am thinkingyou guys will pull it off just fine.

I love hot rods, but it sure is nice to see all the craftsmanship and thought going into all of these cutoms. With the advent of OSR (not intending to pick on anyone) I often feel like the quality of the average hot rod gets crappier by the day. Unfortunately, I think new comers think "the crappier the better". It's really great to see some solid work like this!

 

I'm looking forward to seeing how that is done. I noticed you already welded in the quarter panel seam like I did on my Merc.

Your car has great lines, especially how to the headlite area is pulled forward.

 

Any info, more pics , on this car, I remember seeing it in a rag a lil bit back. I can't seem to put my hands on it. I 'm about to start a 40' pontiac, and the chop on this car in right on. If I remember right the roof was positioned forward about 5"
