(Quoted from newspaper notice) 1953 Ford pickup (complete original flathead engine with current title and license). 1932 Ford 5-window coupe restoration project (title and registration, all original metal, Halibrand quick change rear, straight axle disc front,) Ardun heads, GM blower housing, Offenhauser aluminum heads,- flat head blocks- heads, manifolds and other parts, several old flathead engines- transmissions, rear ends, frames and front end parts. '32 Ford pickup cab Model A radiator shells, truck parts 1930, 4 door Dodge restoration project, frame-complete body, engine, trans, front and rear assembly, other related trim and parts. (I'm hoping to get that one) There will also be a load of shop equipment and tools, and a handful of guns. I shall now say a prayer to the Karma gods, burn some incense, maybe sacrifice a rubber chicken, and beg for forgiveness from my fellow HAMB'ers. Roger

Holy Crap! It's amazing the stuff that's been packed away for years, in the places you would least expect to find it, and is finally coming to out to see the light of day. Unfortunately it seems to be because of "estate sales" and we all know why those are usually held.
It looks like there is something for everyone there. Lots of interesting shop equipment along with the 5 window. Too far away for me though.
Hmmmm....Got me a PM from somebody that I have apparently pissed off by posting this. He's also local enough to come up and try at something. I wonder how I'm supposed to know that HE knew about it, when HE lives in a different town? Oh, well, good luck to him. Roger
It sounds like HE has small man syndrome and wanted to see if he could get a steal. Big ego cowards hate competition, it scares them and they tend to wet themselves. We have a few mouthy tough guys, ask the pissed off simpleton to identify himself when he gets to the auction. s.

I don't think you have to worry about any of this old stuff getting scrapped. I also don't think that the other guy was hoping to get a steal, he probably just wanted to try and keep the cars local. I've seen alot of cool stuff get sold off to the coasts and overseas. And that Coupe is the kind that could draw bidders from many states away. I personally know of 2 guys that will be there tomorrow that are VERY big '32 collectors. I bet between them they have 20 deuces. And one already has an Ardun. It will be an interesting day.
Sounds like you are planning on NOT being one of the guys bringing home the coupe or the ardun heads. Hell, I dont think that I could even afford scrap prices, guess that I would be going home empty handed. could some one post pictures? Later.
word spread around like wild fire to early ford lovers. i heard about the car/auction weeks ago along with dozens of other guys it even spread all around minneapolis/st.paul. -- if there is a 32-33-34 ford on an auction like that you can try to keep it quiet like your going to get it for nothing but word spreads underground like a bad rumor. we were planning to go to the auction but we got way to busy to go.
Please keep us watchers posted as to the selling prices. I would like to know how much the 5W went for
Well, there was not 40 trailers, but I'd guess at about 15. Can't say they were all waiting for the deuce, though. I missed the selling price of the Arduns, but somebody told me they went for around 8 grand, and the Offy's went at $275 The '30 Dodge brought $1700, and it was quite solid. '53 Ford PU went for 2 grand. A beehive oil filter brought $160, and it had one broken fin. A pair of Buick Al drums went for 12.50 Then another pair, prepped for use, with spindles netted (I think)$370 Followed by a third pair that got $300. I didn't stick around for the whole thing, but there was four, 4-bangers of different vintages, and another five flatheads (one short block), and most of those had the "8B" casting in the head. (Sorry, I'm not an "authority") The deuce.....I will say that it was very solid, and almost all there. Yes it had been modified from original, so it will take something to make it original, if that's the buyer's plans. I don't know the original height of the roof on one, but it did not look to me like it had been chopped. I have some pics that I'll get posted later today. I hesitate to disclose the price, as the seller might feel it's no one's business but his. Well, shit......It was a public auction, and I can reasonably expect that someone else will post the price, so...............(gulp) $20,500. All-in-all, I could have stayed home and made better use of my time. Later.....Roger

It always amazes me when people get bent out of shape because you publicized something.Like they thought they would be the only one to show up. I iuse to write a column for Old Cars.When I wrote about the price that somethings traded for EVERYONE got P'd because they had some old guy cornered and were going to buy for pennies on the dollar. I have one client who told me to take all of his stuff to a farm community and sell it when he dies.That's because everyone thinks they are going to sneak up on it!
the Ardun heads went for $8250, and they were not complete. I bought two flatheads(one with 97 carb), one almost complete 46-48(?) front end and a 46-48(?) wishbone. also bought a little cart that had a tractor seat on it?? already ripped it apart, it now holds one of the flatheads.
I was there, yes with a trailer, I got some hole saws and a bunch of taps, drill bits and tooling real, real affordable, pays to stay to the end...I ended up with the 30 Dodge, just got home, I paid $1400 for it....I kept asking people if they posted this on the HAMB...you should have seen the looks...like they thought I was crack, one person said "ham, they have food over there"....LOL! The Dodge- one guy started it, and it sat at $500, so I jumped in, my last bid was my last bid, thinking the other guy was surely going to bid, but he didn't, then I offered it to him and he said no, my wife isn't too cool with it, but that ok, its so complete and really pretty solid. Don't really know what I am going to do with it though... I bouth it cause I heard one guy think he was going to get it, put it in his yard for a kids playhouse...
Both the Ardun heads and the 32 stayed in Iowa. The Ardun buyer is a HAMBer but I'll let him come forward if he so desires. The heads were complete, except for the valley pan, intake and some valves. All things that can be made or bought repro. The heads are in exceptionally good condition. They are the later version but have the "Made in England" style valve covers. IMO they sold for way under what they are worth.
I thought the body and the heads went for good prices, I did get to hold the heads....I asked one guy "why are car parts and women so different? We want to get our hands on real car parts...but fake women parts".....hhhmmm
