Ok,Ive been wondering this for some time now,how do I get my 32 roadster featured in a magazine,I know most of you guys wouldnt give a crap about something like that, but I think my car is nice, and nice enough to be seen in a magazine, plus I have a great story on how this build came about,so any advise would be good,or just comments on my feelings about this.

    1. DO NOT bother the magazine's Editor.

    2. Don't whine about how much better you car is than car X.

    3. Have a cool car at a car show - the magazine guys will find you!

    4. See #1

    5. Have a car that is actually worthy of a feature. That means knowing the difference between one that is and one that isn't. The amount of money or time spent has NOTHING to do with the quality or design of a car. The amount of each is not necessarily proportionate to the other.

I'd settle for pictures in a readers rides section, anything.

The Gazette has a Weekend Wrenchin' feature each month that highlights homebuilt cars.

Some mags have a "readers rides" section. Try that if all else fails. I think you've got a super '32 but for a magazine to feature a '32 Ford I've got to believe your either going to have to know somebody or the car would have to be OUTSTANDING.

I have some friends who have had their cars on several magazines, including cover shots. I never thought the cars were that nice, so I asked them how they were able to do that on multiple occasions.
Their response was, meet the magazine guys at an event, give them an all expenses paid trip to your town and they'll figure an angle to make your car look like it bleongs.
Hey: not saying its that way with all of them, just tellin' what they told me.

Yep, drive it to large car events and instead of parking in one spot all weekend and sitting in a lawn chair, continue to cruzn around the fairgrounds with a smile on your face. If your car is unique, you will get noticed and they will find you.

And just because a feature is shot does not mean it will actually make it into a mag so don't get your panties in a bunch if it takes months or longer or never happens. There are no guarantees.

I've had about 30 jobs published, and the way I did it for many of them, was to contact a photographer in the area that shoots for magazines. (Tucson has had a few.) If he feels it is worth doing, he will shoot and submit the article. Expect him to charge you, but you will get some frameable pictures for your wall or scrapbook.

By doing it this way, an editor knows "up front" he will get acceptable photography, and possibly good editorial material, from a proven source.

Sometimes you have to let a fat orca-betty pose near/on it. Just remember to put a cloth down so her butt sweat doesn't peel the paint.
    This isn't real advice...

Well Ive been to some big events, and I'm even going to York this year, maybe I should give it up,theres nothing special about my 32,its just a nice car.Its funny how fast all you are responding to this, and I agree with Kirk, and number 1,I would never bother a magazine editor.I just thought it would be great for myself, and everyone who helped build the thing.

Haven't you asked this same question in a thread before?
Did you try any of the suggestions last time?

If you get out and about with your car and it's worth publishing...they'll find you.

You've got a nice car John, but it is another '32 roadster.
Get out there and have fun...even if it's going to rain!;)

    Oh yea, and don't forget KIRK's #1.

there is a few magazine editor guys here at the H.A.M.B. maybe you can post a pick and one will see if its a feature or not. more then likely it'll get ripped to shreds. but you never know might get a compliment. hehe

Not a priority for me but I've had my shitbox 52 Chev in a couple of little spots. No features. I think it's just because there is something different about my car (Custom headlight treatment). It's a rough ole thing but interesting I guess.

Show us a pic of your roadster.
Kirk nailed it. Go to shows and they will find you, granted here in California, the mag guys are everywhere. If they think your car is mag worthy, they will let you know.
    My 2 cents.

and radials. ps if it is a hot rod, make sure the ass drags. guaranteed spread.

Now I could care less about getting my car into a car rag. But if it could get a feature in Club International, that would be tits.

Sorry girl, but I totally disagree with you, cruising around, is just saying, "look at me", and seems rather pushy, if your car is good, it will get noticed just sitting in a quiet corner.
The "real" mag photographers arent lured in by a flashy car and a grinning driver.

  25. I've had cars is two different Magazines...Hotrodladycrusr,is telling you the straight skinny....It was two years after pics were taken that it was finally published...Unless your car is OUTSTANDING..the Mag folks probably have enough 32 Roadster pics on file to last for years....Get out and enjoy it and hopefully a photo guy from a mag will aproach you for a shoot....

Yep post some photos here and if one of the writer/photographers that shows up here likes the car he will make an effort to hunt you down at a show somewhere.

My truck has been in about 6 magazines. It is always the one parked behind the car having it's photo taken and can be seen peaking out around the corner.
