,,,,man,,i was kicking back in the garage tonight, and starring into the eyes of my latest ride like a puppy dog...when all of a sudden i looked to the left and my '56 was looking at me the same way your wife looks at you when she catches you scopping out that young 20 something....
..i actually felt guilty for a lil bit,,,untill i caught myself...,,,that got me to thinking about all the things me and her(the '56) had been through over the past nine years... and all the times she threw her jealous tantrums at the WRONG time,,,,funny how that happens....haha.

.in reality...they are all just metal,,,right???? i know that,,and i also know the whole thing about cars having "souls",,

...it amazes me how if you LISTEN,,these cars will actually talk to you and tell you what they like and what they dont like....

,,original cars sometimes will fight you when you are trying to modify them,,,,neglected cars will usually respond positive to any upgrades you do...but dont fall in love with one more than your woman,,because then..things can realy get weird....

I don't know.... Although sometimes I think I let the ghosts out of a couple cars I've had. I'll be in the garage working on something, and out of the corner of my eye sometimes I think I see someone.... only to look and see no one there.

(this thread had nothing to do with hondas when i started it,,,but, funny you should mention Honda,,

i picked up an old worn out 1990 accord just to drive back and forth to work due to gas prices a few weeks back, the guy i bought the car from got it when he turned 16,he is now in his upper 20's,,
when i went to look at the car and he was driving it like he was Parnelli Jones...i couldnt belive this joker, this car had 170K on he motor and 290K on the body,,,it did run good so,i bought it,,carresed it and that car has been nothing but loving ever since,,,its almost as if it's so happy someone is finally being nice to it...

    all joking aside,,,
the thing is ,...is to be intune with the machine you are driving enough so that you and "IT" are comunicating with each other...listen to what your ride is telling you...it will "TALK" if you listen close enough...

but ,,.just be cautious if you start actually start hearing your car speak word in your head ,,,:D

  27. I missed that thread. Was the guy merely confused when someone explained to him, while pointing to the grille "...and here's you put your crank..."

    You are soooooo right Sam!

I tried to explain this to my Dad about 10 years ago. The two of us took a trip to the Hot Rod Powerfest in Commerce,GA. He had always gone with my brother so this was his first trip in my 56. He kept telling me that me and my brother were crazy. When we got through Atlanta he tells me,"Now that you boys know a little bit about cars..... you just hear things. Every little rattle you think you need to fix something on the car. It just ain't true. Drive the wheels off it. You'll have more fun that way."
Right about that time the 56 burped. We looked at each other like we'd seen a ghost. He says "what the hell was that." When I told him she says we're out of gas, he just shook his head. I immediately jumped across three lanes of traffic and up the exit ramp..... peddling the gas peddle for all it's worth. She coughed and choked a few times but made it up the ramp and then we coasted to a stop at the pump. While i'm putting gas in the 56 my Dad's walking around in complete amazement. He says to me "do you realize this is the last exit for a loooong time and we almost missed it? How could you possibly know we were ALMOST out of gas?" I just told him "she loves me Dad. She didn't want to see us walk!"

I didn't want to tell him i'd pushed it too far just two weeks before and had to use the very same technique to make it home. I ran out of gas on the street in front of my house!

My automobiles, like my dogs are family.
Naturally, I care about them more than about myself.
In return they take care of me like no human ever could.
It's all about the company you keep and how you treat them.
When it's right, you seem to always get a lot more back.
Never seems quiet that simple with human partners.....
