very nice. the only thing i would even consider that you listed is the rockers.

i dont think pinstriping goes on a car that clean.

As for me, there's no way I'd put a roof rack on that..It's just too clean.. I've always liked the clean uncluttered look.. I'm a hot rodder not a restorer, but I'd almost cry if someone would drill holes in that top for a roof rack..I'd find more pleasure in tying a rope to the rack and dragging it down the street...

That is the definition of a great ride, I would not change a thing.

Looks great, nice job! I agree with the others, it's done. All the additions you mention would be overkill, IMHO. Time to start the next project!

Like everyone else, I say it is pretty much good the way it is - maybe rocker trim, maybe. Otherwise, the best way to improve it is get some babes in the back and puts some miles on it.

I love wagons, especially two door wagons and especially unusual two door wagons. I wouldn't change a thing, except for converting it to a gasser..... :D Just had to say it. ;)
That thing's way cool, it was obviously worth the wait. Now you can tell your friends to go pound sand up their asses!

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments and opinions, they are all appreciated. The overwhelming sentiment is to leave it alone, and that makes me very happy, as I feel somewhat vindicated. I gathered up all that other stuff over the years and was planning to use it, but something told me to stop right there, and I'm glad I did, because I agree with most of you that it's done. The look I was going for was very mild custom, circa 1965.

I like old wagons with roof racks and antique luggage strapped to them, or a surf board if you live near the ocean - in AZ, it's considered flat dorky to do a surf/tiki theme because you can't surf on sand. Maybe a small, period decal or two on the rear window, but I don't know what they might be. The other problem is the antenna. This was a radio delete car, but I added a factory Comet radio. I didn't want to drill the fender for an antenna, so I mounted it under the dash, street rod style. As you can imagine, reception is spotty at best. Eh, maybe I'll just do a hidden XM setup.

    I'm in Mesa.

Now they just tell me I'm ugly!

I don't know for sure, but I saw a published figure somewhere that said 5,100. They made 198,000 Comets total that year, so it's a small percentage.

Or I can just off it on ebay to someone who is restoring a stocker. I'm with ya though, not looking at all forward to drilling 33 holes for the rack. That would be a little too permanent.

Neat neat neat neat car, don't go changing it IMO.

Roof rack will add height to the rear of the car and would detract from it's lines IMO.

Wanna make that car POP without cluttering up the clean, crisp style you've established?? Flake the roof. Big, bad, bass boat silver kustom flake. Then do the pinstripe work on the roof only, possibly even something big and surfboard shaped to evoke a board up there.

Personally, if I was gonna surf shop that car it'd need etched logos on the side windows, but that's a serious thing to do to rare glass. And maybe a single silver pinstripe down the side of the car (bout 2 inches under the glass) that terminates with a tiny pinstripe surfer dude riding a wave.

    did I mention that's a neat car?

    Good luck with it

Gee, KK-- Haven't you ever heard of Big Surf?

    Honestly, leave it,
I'm in Scottsdale but I'd have to cruise through Mesa until I could find you and kick your ass if you drilled 33 holes in it just to give it more clutter.

I think the car is perfect just the way she is. I wouldn't do a darn thing extra to it. Be proud, as it's a great looking ride.

the glass is the same as all falcon wagons, 2 or 4 door.

but i wouldn't do ANYTHING to it. it is a study in understated perfection as it sits. i think striping or stickers would ruin the look.

  23. What a sano ride.....I love it !! Tastefully done and well executed!!

The fact you wanna do more to it probably means youre bored hehe!!

Time to grab another project me thinks !!

Put a small H.A.M.B. decal on the glass somewhere. Done.
Maybe mount the antenna way up under the rocker panel?
    That car is beautiful !

Very nice !!! Dont it suck when you wont to change your ride and you post about it and everyone says leave it alone !! I love roof racks on wagons. May be one of those racks that just straps to the rain gutter .

Haha... my thoughts exactly! That type of roof rack wouldn't hurt your paint much and you wouldn't have to drill any holes.
