Well, we are on our way out to the Waterdown swap meet. It's in a nice little burb of Hamilton. I've only ever been to the swap meet as a spectator, but it's always been good. So I am hoping it will be as good this time as a vendor. Hope to see lots of Hambers there. Make sure you stop in and say hello, look for the running flat head in the model a engine stand. Don't forget to pick up information about the FLAT OUT WEEKEND coming in 2009!!!
    See you there!!!!!

Well, is it me or is this meet getting worse and worse for older stuff. :(I'm really glad to took my wife and son to this so we made a day out of this.

What a waste of time. The project cars were truly Canadian project cars, no floors, bondo quarters and high prices. I was really looking for a Super t-10. Well, I found three. Two guys wanted $1,000 for supposedly reburbished ones and the other $950 for a good used one. If I can buy a new Richmond T-10 for $1,500, why the hell would I pay $1,000 for a used one? My son liked a Tonka truck, but the guy needed $75 for it. Now I don't expect stuff for free because I know what it's like to sit there and sell stuff, but lets get realistic!

In the end I did get two nice '49or '50 Hudson dome nights and we found a Tonka truck for $5 for my son.

    I was there today.
Lots of cars to look at. Not a huge amount of hot rods.
The swap was pretty sad if you were looking for old ford/rod parts.

my dad took a whole whack of older front crossmembers from the Horton days... $100/ crossmember, $100/control arms. He brought about three skids full, came home with one !!

He's going to bring some more tomorrow.

I was there as well. Met pistinbroke, it was a pleasure man, looking forward to your show next summer!
Saw a LOT of junk at the swap and some nice cars in the show area but the best part of the day was quiz'ing my 7 year old son as we walked through the show area.
    Me - "What's that?"
    Max - "A Chevrolet"
    Me - "What year?"
    Max - "Ahhhh..... '55?"
    Me - "Yup."
Max - "Yessssssssss." with a fist pump.

    We had a great day!

I was there with RamblerMike. We ran into the usual suspects: Fast Ed, Virgil Hilts, 27Kid and Dad... I scored some side mirrors for a good price and a pair of Cherry Bomb mufflers for $10:D
Lean swap for flattie stuff and the tin was rough and pricy...

Wow, what a lot of people!!!! There was a lot of traffic on Saturday. Not so much on Sunday, but the weather was great!!!!! It was great to meet all you guys that stopped by to say hi. I didn't get to see to much of the rest of the show, but most of the people I talked to echo what is being said here. To bad to, it was such a great weekend weather wise. 27 kid, large b, I hope to see/hear from you guys again soon. As for the Flat out Weekend, I am sorry the link still isn't working. I'll get right on that in the morning. The short of it is, I have rented the entire speedway in Shannonville Ontario next year for a three day event. Friday ,Saturday, Sunday there will be a show and shine, swap meet ect. Saturday night there will be a dance and live bands, after we are having a portable "drive in" movie brought to the grounds to play some old classics for us. Also the drag strip will be open all weekend long for us to enjoy, just in case you get sick of hearing the guy next to you tell you he's faster. This way you can tell him to prove it and you don't need to worry about johnny law giving you grief and taking your hard earned dollars...... or more......... There will be lots of other things going on, like a poker run on Friday, we are working on having some strippers there to pull some lines as well as some events for the whole family to take part in. There is way to much going on to list here. So I'll need to get the link working asap. Once again, it was great to meet you all that stopped by. Welderseries I wanted to stop by and introduce myself, sorry I didn't get the chance, I did hear about the deals coming out of your booth all weekend long though. You and your dad made a lot of people happy this past weekend. Next stop, Odessa!!!! See you all in a few weeks!!!!!! P.S. I think I have some pic's. I'll try to post them soon, if there are worth it. Thanks for all the support!!!!!

  11. Although advertising "strippers" might get more rodders to show up I,m sure you meant "stripers"....hehehe.

Well, that throws that out the window!! What will we do for fun now???? Really, I was just so burnt out by the weekend I missed that one, sorry for any mis-leadings that might have given. You are right, I meant stripers. If there are any on the board that might be interested. Please P.M me and I'll give you the run down on the show. As well, I am looking for anyone that owns a dragster that ran at the old Deseronto track, Garlites often refered to this track as Mohawk valley. If you have a car, or know where one is, please contact me asap. Thanks again.

We worked all morning on it and finally the link works propperly. Follow the Far From Stock link and go to news, there is the info. It will be updated as things progress. I'll be adding more this afternoon.
P.S. Still looking for any dragsters that ran at the Deseronto/ Mohawk valley drag strip before it closed. Any info is a great help. Thanks again.

I forgot my camera on sat.
Good way to start the summer season.
It was nice to meet some HAMBers and see old friends.
Why don't we ever do a meet and greet up here?

I was there on Saturday morning with some friends. Some decent cars in the show. Ran in to Scott (Flatman), he was hoping to have his car out for this show, but he's been having trouble getting it licensed.

    cheers

Welderseries, the show is going to be great. We have been working on this show about three years!!!! Going into it I told everyone "if it's not going to be done right, then it's not going to be done at all !!" Everything that has been/is being planned for the show is geared toward the family. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. The best part about it is it's going to be cheep to get in, and you will have things to do WITH your car, instead of just parking it and getting a sun burn.... We have events for the young ones to get involved in as well as those that might be there to support us in our hobby but don't really like the sun burn car show scene.
Time bomb, why would you want that shirt?? When you could have one of our fantastik show shirts for so much less!!!!!
Mckee, I met "CoupeDevil" a few years ago at the Waterdown swap meet and ran into them again this year. Really great people. He came over to our booth and hung out for a while. His Stirling swap meet story is amazing. Asking him sometime. I hope to hear about the 41 again soon as well, another once in a life time deal!!!!! I think he said he was from around these parts before he moved south of the boarder.....
The Watson/Weldon car was a treat to see for sure. Someday I'll get to Bonneville....I know I will!!!!
I guess to sum it up. Even though the "junk" was over priced and the cars were "sparse" on Sunday, the show was a good time, and for the most part, that was due to the people that were there. Thanks again for another good show.
Welderserise, p/m me and I'll give you my contact number, maybe we can get together and I'll fill you in on all the details of the show, I think you'll like what is in store.

We could plan one for the Fall Waterdown Swap Meet.

Ed, I might get the car one the road in the next week if all goes well.

Pistonbroke, sorry I didn't get back for one of your shirts, I meant to. Have you talked to Rick Proctor with ONDR about getting your event on their schedule? I'm hoping to be there.

Yes, I have been in touch with the ONDR for quite a while. A few of them spent quite a while at our booth during the Stirling swap meet. Here is the thing, if you are part of a club, have your club pres contact me, or you contact me, either p.m here or via e-mail at

    far_from_stock.com

so I can give your club a personal invite, this will include a club rate for the entry to the show, ect, ect. So far the clubs that a package is goig out to include

*1*-- members of the former "peaceful pacers" cc - these are the guys that ran the Deseronto NHRA strip here in the Quinte area. Often refered to in the day as "Mohawk valley" by a number of prominent NHRA icons of the day.
    2- Roadmates GTA
3- Coasters various locations / thanks for the info Mel
4- ONDR various locations/ thanks to Larry for the info
5- Classic Ford Trucks Aurthur Ontario and other chapters

The Right Coast Rep for southern Ontario was also at the booth this weekend, but I do not know what might become of that visit.
So, if you are a member of a club, give me the info or have the pres contact me. This invitation is open to clubs south of the boarder as well. Of course, you do not need to belong to a club to be able to get in the show either.

Flatman, I've got lots. I am sure we will see each other at another show sometime this year.....

fast ed- If we could entice our friends from south of the boarder to come up and play in our sandbox that would be great!!!!! Lets all tease them about how much fun we have up here, maybe they will come up and see for themselves!!!!!

I would really like to see/meet Hamb Andy at this show, that would make my day/weekend!!!!!!
