    I wont discuss the movie.

But the opening scene kick's ***! It reminds me of Ryans Editorial the other day on "That Hot Rod is a Murderer"

Two guys in a '32 fenderless highboy roadster, out cruising the highway with two poodle skirts in the rumble seat. They come up on the Army caravan, and try to race the Army Shoebox leading it. They swerve off the road once to avoid on coming traffic while egging the GI on in the car to put the hammer down.

Was awesome! And the year had to be '55-56 based on the cars you see a little later in the show. And looking at the deuce, they did a damn good job matching the era.

Saw it last night...good movie and a great hot rod! I was suprised

They did a decent job Mutt's bike too, allowing that they started with a brand new Harley and managed to make it look (convincingly enough) era correct...but that's another message board :p

'57 well then they did a good job on the era. We missed the very beginning getting popcorn, they must have had it on the screen. So I guessed.

None the less the roadster was cool, especially how they used it.

Those bikes were built for the movie by a pal of mine, and he was constantly frustrated in his attempts to build an actual period-correct 50's Harley, because there was a movie promo tie-in with Harley-Davidson, who insisted that only new bikes were to be used!

The 49-50 ford fordoor in the opening scenes had radial tires on it. Also doesnt it seem odd that a 32 with a hopped up small block cant run away from a stock ford flat motor? Oh well its only a movie ........ Mike.

It was a very good movie but, as the 2 were racing they showed a front shot and the transport trucks were keeping right on there ***. What the heck it's Hollywood.

mutts bike was ********..there was no excuse not to have that bike look alot better or just be a panhead and use a stunt double.to me they might as well had indiana jones packing a glock with wooden grips glued on it...but thats just me.

I read the thread about them buying your Buick, and you saying you were going to get it back, but never see any update?

    So what happened?

The movie ****ed. Well, I shouldn't say that; if you wanted to see a remake of a 50's sci-fi flick, then it was alright, but it wasn't an Indiana Jones film. Lucas is a dip****. If I want to see aliens I'll watch E.T. I came very close to walking out of the theater, and this is from a guy who stayed through weekend at bernie's 2.

what happened is i saw a 51 drive off un-touched. the whole idea of them buying my buick was to wreck it FOR THE MOVIE. its so amazing that lucas went and ****ed up something so great. i mean honestly? i dont want to spoil it for anyone..but the story is by george lucas... of course its going to have some tie in to some stupid star wars ********.

i was sitting there in the arclight theater, where tickets are 15 bucks a pop and i screamed out "THIS IS ********" when i saw the buick (that was destroyed) drive off. my girlfriend grabbed me and said "dont worry, its going to be in there somewhere" but it never was.

im hoping for deleted scenes on the dvd. i have to know that my buick died for a reason, and not some stupid contrived george lucas idea.

the atomic blast scene was my fav. everything else ****ed - they were so caught up in the special effects that they had to have a CG 57 olds drive up to the hangar, come on.

i wish you didnt have to die for a ****ty movie...

I agree. I think the person who had a hand in the Hot Rod was Lucas himself [just a guess].

I dont usually go out to view movies on the opening week [crowds of people and movies dont mix] but I love the Indy character. The opening scene blew me away because I had purposly avoided hearing or reading anything about this movie in order for it to all be a big suprise. I felt it was important for me to view this movie in the opening weekend, to let Hollywood know that I want to see more movies/stories like this...Now I'm glad I did, because it had great cars, bikes and [most importantly] and *****in Hot Rod scene that ruled.

I can ignore the Hollywood overlooked small details of this movie because I'd rather watch a movie like this a thousand times rather than watch another "Bad Boys" Clone or wack "Star Wars" version.

I think the moive was entertaining, had an interesting story that moved right along, and was set in a time period I'm most interested in. I enjoyed the movie for what it was and plan on buying it when it comes out on DVD. YEAH!!!!

I haven't seen it yet but thanks for the tipoffs. I'm always looking for incorrect props and scenery in a movie, drives my wife up the wall. I don't say anything until we're out of the theater so I don't ruin it for her. But, when we get in the car her first words are, "Well, what was wrong with it?":)

Maybe we are seeing a bit of a trend, with ironman and a few other teasers with hotrods coming out lately. can some of the actual real rod flicks be far behind. It comes down to support. If hollyboreing thinks there is a buck to be made it will be in the movie. I say we thank them directly and ask for more, maybe even make a few suggestions of movies they could help distribute. I dug it for what it was, entertainment. I also thought they had really messed up with the wrong engine etc in the roadster until they let us know it was 57. then I settled down a bit.

What the **** you let that movie eat your sweet Buick?!?!?!

thats one of the things that was ******* me off as I watched that, all the cars they destroyed making it. God knows it aint no thing for hollywood to lay down 8 grand for a driver quality cl***ic just to completly total it. where as to most of us thats a lot of dough.

Saw the movie at the drive-in last night along with Iron Man. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the high boy was a tub not a roadster. It was the best sequence in the movie tho. Better than Indiana Jones was Iron Man (a little Yoda speak). It featured a hot rod as well and this on, tho never seen running, got even more face time. I liked it because the character in the movie is a super genius with robotics and wepons technology, owns a half dozen exotic cars yet is seen building a traditional hot rod. Thanks for the nod Hollywierd.

God bless the men who died in defence of our nation. Due to them, we can enjoy and complain about stupid movies.

Consider yourself corrected,.... it was a Roadster with the rumble seat open and a couple poodle skirts riding in it.:)

  27. Yeah, man, I saw some promo shots, a while back, and had to laugh at the "new disk brakes and engine", on a 50's bike, in a period film. Must have been frustrating fighting the big corporate machines.

It was the only movie I have gone to in six months or more and it was a kick to watch, incorrect props or not.

    Really ?,.....

You mean that the Wal-Mart garden hose and mail boxes on the houses in the bomb test shot didn't ruin the entire movie for you?

The clothes were obviously not sewn on era correct machines ( and probably sewn in a asian country !),..... and I am sure the cow that died to make Indiana Jones jacket was born after the year 2000 !

And everyone knows that "ALIENS" don't actually look like that !
I guess they couldn't find any real ones that could "ACT" as good as Harrison Ford,...huh?

    Come on, get a grip !,... it's just a movie !
