I'd love to stumble upon Fred Larsens old A.
    Love that car.
Have searched for pics of it for years. Only have a handfull.
    Here's a couple.
It's in one of Montgomery's books before Fred bought it.
Builders name slipped my mind as I Write this. Can't look it up as of now.

I assume it's wareabouts is not known.

The only thing you should do to the Trendero is add a sneaky cooling system, and fill the liquor bottles. :)

It was sold to Tom Mhyre who did a less than beautiful modification and re campaigned it as the Crown coupe.. sorry you have to see this.......

He re did the front with an Edsel collar and it showed into 1970

I think Tom has passed on and the car now belongs to a Jim George in Michigan. I havent been able to locate him.
I'm looking for this car so if anyone can help out it'd be appreciated. Many thanks to Pro Enfo here for the info and pics....

The only reason that I can think of for LaJolla and Polynesian not being mentioned by now is that they aren't missing. But since I don't know where they are I'll mention two of the prettiest customs ever built.
Someone mentioned Cotton Werkman's (sp) old roadster, I'd love to run around in that for a day or two but I think I'd pass on cross-country in it.

  19. Didn't Curt McCormick purchase the LaJolla from Harry Bradley?
I believe the Polynesian is in Ohio.

A good friend of mine has been chasing it for years, and he's got solid lead as to where it is. His best friend owned it in the early sixties and knows who he sold it to, and the guy is still around... and supposedly still has it.

We're going to go try to find the guy this summer sometime.

I'd say more but then it would be gone before we can get there!

The Polynesian has been completely restored. Check out TRJ #35. It also has an article on the Nisei Racers, and has a 2-page pic of the Danny Sakai modified. Anyone know where it is?

Where is the 1951 Merc "Dragon Lady". Ron Gentry in FL used to own it about 20 years ago.

Dunno where it is now, but here's a shot of it in front of Joe Anderson's shop in Gardena, I believe. I had pulled it to LA for Bob Reisner, who had me drop it off at Anderson's for a paint job. I rememeber the day well because the tongue of the trailer dropped onto my foot. Somehow I avoided major damage, but it really hurt and scared me.

Come to think of it, I think I may have something not too long ago that indicated that Dave was restoring it. Don't quote me.

    Sorry to hear that.

In re-reading another post on here, I recalled that it was that he was going to restore the Trendero, not the Illusion I previously referred to.

Don't know if that was his plan but I doubt it, in his last few years he was not at all interested in cars.

The Trendero is now in the care of a HAMBer Moriarity and it is next on the list to be restored after he finishes the Car Craft Dream Rod.
