Don't have much to contribute, but here's one of Bob Kamp, of K-Motion, at National Trail. He and his wife now operate a dirt oval track in Benton County, Indiana.

I saw that. This was just last weekend at Dentons Outlaw Fuel Altered show. "No Hot Rodders Allowed" would freak out if someone did that. Thank God there is still room somewhere in this world for an occasional bit of madness!
Fire burnouts at night are definitely spectacular.:D

Fresno's infamous four lane freeway for fuelers. Surpassed only by Fontana's 4 jet cars at one time exhibition stunt

In retrospect, the bug catcher style of injector wasn't as much in favor amongst those running gas as opposed to those fueled by nitro.

A brief history about Mr Bowman's Vega. The car you see before you was actually Gas Rondas 1970 Mustang. The very one that Ronda made his last fateful run at Beeline in 1970 wherein a transmission fire ended his career via serious burns. Amos Saterlee finished off the already booked appearances for a healing Ronda, then sold the car to Bowman in late 1971. Bowman had the car adorned powered with the 392 hemi taken out of his Bantam altered. By late 72, he was incited by the success of Jim Dunn's Cuda, and so he modified the chassis of the Ronda Mustang and created a rear engine flopper. The car ran a few high 6's, but made a
greater impact on the sand drag circuit.

I saw this car in 1972 at Pomona when it was owned by its long time owner, Coy Martin. It was then powered by a blown 331" Chrysler for the BB/GS class. It had the same paint job!!!!

Not for sure but it looks like it might be an updated version of the "Iron (Maiden or Mistress)". I can't recall which name it was.
The version I saw was on a Jackson Bros. video "Front Engine Fuelers" and was much more crude looking but had a near identical wheel and twin engine set up.

At one time, this was the fastest Chevy, blown or unblown. The absence of the roof was attributed to it blowing off, and Proffitt electing to not replace it. Randy Walls (Super Nova fame) later bought the car and crashed it into the Pisano Bros Corvair in 1968

Bowman's Bantam was dubbed Mental Cruelty. The pictures dont do it justice as the car featured a beautiful paint job by "MOLLY". Car orginally ran a BBC, then the hemi you see hear.

The red Anglia in the other lane was the Panella Trucking Spl. of Joe Panella with Ken Dondero driving. This car was powered by a blown 301" Chevy and a manual 4 speed. The only supercharged car I know of wherein the driver banged the gears as opposed to an automatic.

I am thinking it might be Leo Dunn, a long time competetion eliminator racer from the Fremont area. The car is obviosuly an A/Comp Dragster-a once very popular class comprised of roadsters shells mounted atop a rail chassis. I will confer and advise.

Awesome car...when you look at the steering and the four bar it looks more like the car in the first picture in the background.
