Most do....look at the rear glass....pretty much all the same....with a thick C pillar....

If you can chop a VW and make it look good.....you can probably chop anything...

Can't agree with you there. I didn't build this, I bought it done, but I think it looked good with a mild chop:

Yep. Zocchi and others have chopped cars that I wouldn't have, and have had good results. Taste and workmanship are the whole deal, and many people who chop cars don't have enough of one or the other.

I'd nominate these among the riskiest chops (more bad ones than good):
    - any '36 thru '40 Ford coupe
    - Shoebox coupes
    - most anything post-'54

  6. I doubt that anyone can state the case better than 57Joe has.....I wonder if 15 years from now, the best fabricators will be known for their top "restoration" work....right now it's like trying to unscramble eggs....Think real hard before you whack them....C9

Actually, I like all of these. Aren't they all Zocchi cars?

I'm sure the small rear window started out as a practical solution, since cutting a wraparound backlight seems to be a recipe for failure, but I like the look of the wide C pillar.

I think what maks moonglow so nice is the chop combined with the stance, not too low.
if it was laying frame it would not look right.

El bozito I agree completely. Cadillac's are hit or miss with a chop. This Caddy is absoletly stunning EXCEPT for the top. I saw it in Austin and could not get over how bad the proportions were. I hate to talk bad about such a beautiful car but it looks wrong. thesneakytiki

    and as many opinions.

and they are just that, opinions.

if you want a chopped car, cut it up but , don't expect everyone to keep their opinions to themselves especially if you post a pic. of it here.

'55-'57 Chevys, '40 Fords, almost any pickup built after 1954. I'm sure there's more, but these are the most likely to make me ill.:(

this on the other hand (except maybe for the paint) is more like it. this has a dual quad 392 hemi in it, and it's sitting at ride height in the pic. no air bags or hydrolics.

Bad ass is right. As in, it looks very bad, or, it looks like ass! I particularly enjoy the tailpipes which exted a good 6" past the rear pan.:p

All model A fords. Some 32s. Please no more 49-51 mercurys. Leave some unchopped and mild. I bet in the near future 3 to five years, Steve's ,Waldens , or Brookville will offer parts to unchop your screwed up lid.

I think the big rub is that a lot of guys especially some of those new to the game tend to chop a car or truck way more than it should be. The old idea that "that guy chopped his truck 4 inches so I need to chop mine 5.
All of these so called car culture magazines that show up on the stands tend to glorify the overchopped look and a lot of the newbies think that is the way it should be instead of showing a bit of common sense.

There is a red 62 Chev here in the Northwest that is chopped and nicely done. fit and finish on the car are up there with the best of them.

I'll agee with the guy who said the 37/41 Willys look like hell chopped.

I'd also agree that if you can't figure out how to make the glass work and look right leave the thing alone.
