Yeah, I read the story somewhere years ago. Its escapes me. I believe the guy in the white shirt in the middle of the photo is Don Prudhomme.
    Heres a lousy enlargement:

Mr. Royalshifter, congrats on the best thread ever!!!
I've been waiting forever on my buddy to bring me his photos from our trips to Famoso, and Raisin city. He shows up today with only these, I got all choked up, I mean, it only means something to me, but it reconnected me to my past....38 years ago...and it's my car, correction, "was" my car. Had sold it to my friend dave from sanger 'cause I need a driver because our chp red taged the car,(altered suspention, height, slicks, all the normal bs) I kept my 406 and auto, he put in his 406 (Medium riser 2 4s) 4 speed. Ran low 13s.
This is a week later at our beloved Raisin City.
Looking forward to another 2, 3, 4, hundred more pages, OLY.

Congratulations to Royal Shifter and everyone who has contributed to this 200 page History Lesson. It is the best thread ever on a Drag Racing Web Site and should make 300 pages soon. It has been contributed to by people from a host of countries and should make you all aware how far the sport has travelled.

YOU CAN SEE THAT KOLB WAS A BIT TALLER THEN MULLIGAN AS DENOTED BY HIS PROTRUDING SOME 6" ABOVE THE ROLL BAR. ALSO, DIDNT PETER DYKES LATER RUN THIS CAR?

"Ohio George" Montgomery with sponsorship from the late George Hurst in this immaculate Ford Prefect, the four door Anglia. Pontiac Jubilee gold paint and lots of chrome made this a crowd favorite.

"Dragsterboy" in post #3984 asked if there was any more information on this shot:

I just found the article on Ivo that states that this was the result of a short shutoff area at a strip in Roanoke, Virginia. Neither Ivo or the dragster were hurt and that is Don Prudhomme in the white t-shirt. Prudhomme and Ivo traveled together that summer of 1960.

As a high school student in 1967 I worked at a Shell gas station in Arcadia, California. Next door was the Art Carr Transmission Service that built trannys for many topnotch drag racers from all over. One of them was Chuck Poole's "Chuckwagon" wheelstander. Every day there was some sort of commotion at Art's shop. Never a dull moment as was attested my the big wide tire tracks on the asphalt on La Porte Avenue. I loved going to work that summer.

Here's another view of the "iron Mistress" also pictured in post #3924.
This photo was taken at Riverside.
Uglier than a pan of worms, but still pretty cool.

What did you do with Tyree's funnycar? Was the Molly paint job still intact?

WCD, that's right. Bob will correct me if I get this wrong, but this is how it goes. Leland sold the car to Surfers Paradise Raceway and it was driven by Peter Dykes ( amongst others ) then it was sold to Jim Read who completly rebuilt it and raced it for a short time, then it went to Fred Peroto who turned it into a RED, then onto Rod Bradshaw who gave it up as a lost cause, and scrapped it. Great car, very sad story.
    Ross.

Royal Shifter, You were looking for information on this car a few pages back. I just happened to find it while thumbing through the pages of Speed Mechanics, Dec,1962. In the article it states that Bob Todd is from Beaver, PA. Your HRM photo from 61 said he was from California. It is either a misprint or he moved.

Walt and Art Arfons of Akron had many inovative and pretty crazy drag cars over the years. One of the first was this oddball powered by an Allison aircraft engine of 1710 c.i.. It weighed almost 4,000 lbs.
