The cars on the last Summit cat were not that bad either. They both must be getting ready to do specials on 67-69 Camaro's:D

  12. The Summit catalogue I just got has the father & son pairing of a black '32 roadster and '31 coupe on the cover.......a fair bit better than the regular camaros!

I met the owner at the Jalopyrama show last fall. He is from MT Airy MD. The car was painted by Richard Glemp of Glen burnie MD. It is spectacular to say the least. There should be some photos of the car from the East Coast Indoor show this past December. The yellow glows. I can't think of a better way to describe it.
I got that Jegs catalog a few days ago and was very happy to see the car on the cover.......and he drives the **** out it. The lower edge of the front fenders and the area around the lakes pipes have some nice scars to prove it's out and about !

Yup, it's from MD. Saw it at the Jalopyrama a couple times.

  15. That yellow is pearl, and is represented accurately on the cover ,and YES it is absolutely gorgeous in the flesh.

It's is a dead ***y car but I hate the chop. From the profile the car just looks wrong. I cant figure out what it is.

It looks good from the front though.

Your exactly right! I thought the same thing....to me it looks like the rear of the roof should have come down just a hair more.....but what do I know...:D

  21. Yeah, I agree, 49 and 50 quarters are better for chop tops and it has a bump above the quarter window that hurts the flow a little making it look fat there. Also the door edge ruins it for me, there's like four different angles on the rear door edge at the belt line, and the top of the door pillar would have looked better rounded. Still overall a great looking car that was inspiration for mine, don't mean to sound like I hate it or anything.

I know a lot of guys don't like chopped GM fastbacks from the late '40s/early '50s, but there are some great examples in this thread. I have a '50 Buick fastback, and I want to chop it but not ruin it. The pics here show how good it can look when done right.

Slanted posts are a personal opinion...just like on Mercs. I like both slanted and straight posts, and this is one of the decisions I've not made on mine yet. I used to think the post wasn't 'fat' enough to look good slanted, but the yellow one looks damn near perfect.

The only thing I don't like about the yellow car is the way the stripe goes across the hood before becoming a cool scallop stripe down the side. This one flat line takes your eye away from the soft curves everywhere else on the car.

But I think the chop is awesome, as are Purple Pearl's examples. These cars can look great chopped, as long as it's done with respect to the original lines. B***' work is another great example.

    Cool car- thanks for sharing!

I think the bump that everyone is talking about is just part of the fastback design. I have the same bump in my 51 fleetline. My buddy and I talked about piecutting the roof to try and get rid of the bump but could not figure out how to make the pie cut work and still be able to use the rear window. The angle of the rear window is really pretty radical even from the factory. It is more like a window slot even in it's stock size.
here is the link to our chop http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222281

This yellow chevy is so trick and the color just glows. I was trying to find a pic I took at the East Coast Indoor Nationals in Dec. The picture looks like it is overexposed from the flashback of the paint.
I guess I am different than a lot of you as I think it is a really sweet looking car that gets driven. I hope my 51 looks half that good when / if we get it finished
