Steve Woods raced this car from the 60's until he crashed it a few years ago. I don't know if he rebuilt it or not. Larry T http://www.draglist.com/artman/publish/daily_pictures/article_001536.shtml
Here's one from Don Montgomery's "Supercharged Gas Coupes" books. If you're the least bit interested in gassers (if you're not, why are you on this thread? ;^) ) you need this book. You could probably get an autographed copy by PMing Don. He's Rockerhead on here. Rick, How many Prefects do you have sitting around now? Larry T
Hey, where's LimeySteve when you need him? C'mon Steve let's see that Prefect gasser in your shop. Here's another, found where I got the '40 Willys sedan. The yella terra was also in this guy's garage.
The yellow car used to be the Broguirre Dairy car (blue then). I saw it get rolled on the starting line at the '76 March Meet during a burn out. A bunch of guy's in the San Fernando Valley owned it including Tony Notto and our illustrious Groucho I believe
not a gasser , but a good use of a "prefect" ...the chassis shows how much has been taken out of the body.... brandon
Wow, the yellow one's my old car. How recent's the picture? It used to be the Impossibe Dream of Danny Bruiggere(sp), and is in lots of old Gasser books including a full page shot in TRJ a couple yrs ago.
here is my (future) Prefect gasser. I cuuently have a 42 Willys and 2 37 Willys sedans as well, and a 41 Willys PU.
YES, that was in the 70's I believe when Danny raced it as the Impossible Dream. He rolled it (at Famosa I think) , re-bodied it, sold it to my buddy Tony, who street raced it in the late 70's, and later sold it to me.
Thanks blokes, keep em coming. I'm going to look at a Prefect body with a flip front this weekend to rebuild this
It was rolled @ the '76 March Meet during the burnout. I was in the stands (11 years old) and saw the whole thing. I was bummed about it cause I always liked the older gassers. There was a guy who lived on Rinaldi and Mission in the valley in the mid 80's that had a red Austin pickup, and the yellow car in his garage. I was sitting in the yellow car daydreaming on one visit with Frick and Frack and the guy tells me it used to be blue and got rolled one time @ Famosa. Holy crap I was there and here I was sitting in the very same car some ten years later. It was cool to know the car was still around. Are you going to Bob's tonight, if so I'll see ya there.
Kerry at Limeworks built this blown, injected, Caddy powered Prefect a few years back. Steve's Anglia is none too shabby either!
Yup, that was Dave Vickerman. He said the red Austin P/U was the Old Cap'n Crunch car. We had our doubts on that one though. I'll be @ Bob's
Circle City Hot Rods is building a pretty cool one. Just check out the thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=223116
You were right in doubting. The Cap'n Crunch truck was run by Paul Weichman and is the old C&O BB/GS truck. It was also white, blue &yellow Service Center truck and lastly the "Petes Wicked Ale" truck. Weichman sold it just a couple years ago. Weichman was running the truck at the same time Vickerman was claiming his truck was the Cap'n Cruncher.
Gentlemen, A Prefect is not a 57 Chevy or a Fiat. Its a four door British Ford... http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/1085/Ford_Prefect.html
Followed the thread - pretty much saw a Vicky and a Model A with some awesome fab work - but where's the Prefect?
Metalshapes, the photo you posted is the car I own, the one damaged in the shots I posted. Finding it hard to find a "lo light" morris for reasonable dollars around here, and the chassis is also toast. I have found a Prefect just in the next suburb, already half buit as a gasser.
Yeah, I know. I love that car... To bad it will be gone... Sorry man, it must be a lot harder for you and I didn't mean to make it more difficult. And I didn't ask the most important question yet. Are you OK? Hope you didn't get hurt in that wreck...
