Hi Just wanted to show som pics of my resently bought Model A,its a 5 window -31.I havent thought up anything for it yet more than it will be a hot rod Any suggestions??By the way,i´m looking for a new generator for the car beucause i´m converting to 12 volts. But i want an oldstyle looking generator like the orignal generator but with 12 v and AC (Alternating current?) any suggestions on what to do?? At the sellers house pickin it up. Some pics from my home street: Best regards Vincent
I like it. Are you going to leave the sign on the door. I have never seen a alternator that looks like a stock generator.
Yeah the sign on the doors stays.I´m from sweden so my english understanding ain´t that good,so i´ll just write it the retard way so you guys can undersatnd my ****py explenations A 6-volt DC (Direct current) generator is what is original on the car right? A 12 volt AC (Alternating current) generator is what i´m looking for,it should deliver about 70-90 Amp maybe a bit less. But i still wan´t it to look like the original generator, and i don´t wanna put a 12 volt DC generator on the car either. Did i got it right??
Take a look at Chris' coupe that he has. It's just about as ****ing cool as it gets. Dropped axle, new rubber, and drive it!!!! Here is Chris' thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=247168 Oh and if you can, lose the cowl lights. Awesome car!!
They are available. I think that they use a small Japanese alternator concealed in a regular generator case. An enterprising individual may be able to put one together themselves using the old Model A case and one of the many available locally (even in Sweden). I have seen them in the Speedway Motors catalog. They have a pretty good internet site. They sell them for the flathead V-8. A buddy is running one on a '35 Ford PU with a Pertronix in the stock distributor. He says that it was the only thing that he could find that worked well and had the constant voltage necessary to make the Pertronix work right. Tom
jeal·ou·sy Pronunciation: \ˈje-lə-sē\ Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural jeal·ou·sies Date: 13th century 1 : a jealous disposition, at***ude, or feeling 2 : zealous vigilance 3 : some dude has a 31 Model A 5 window coupe and you don't
Very cool Model A! Good luck with your project, it looks like fun. I just did a quick Google search and found this one (generator/alternator): http://www.gener-nator.com/ I think there is another company that does this too, but I can't remember their name.
Thanks I will send them an e-mail right away. But it seemed a little expensive, over 800 dollars for an alternator in the original housing,i´ll just have to set my hopes to the other company you mentioned if you remeber the name of it.
Dude, I wouldn't change a thing! Cruise hell out of it the way it is! If you must have tunes, buy an iPod - other than that, leave it alone!
Dammit..How come i cant find stuff like that on any of the farms around me? sweet..ride. 4" drop axle. drop the back a bit some nice wheels and whites, Juice brakes and pump up the banger and roll it.
Hey Vincent nice find. You can keep the original generator and convert it to 12 volt by replacing the field coils. 12v coils are readily available from Mikes, Mac, etc. About $32 I think. If you want negative earth just repolarize the generator, swap the battery terminals, and the amp meter wires. Starter will be ok as is. Oh if it has the original pop out ignition switch this is polarity sensitive so you will have to change that for a modern look alike version (also available from the same places). Light bulbs wil also have to be changed. Good luck with the car.
Very interested in the signage on the door. Can you take a close-up photo of it. The only 'Pascagoula' I'm aware of is here in south Mississippi (I should know, worked at the shipyard for the Navy for 17 years). It almost looks like 'Ocean Springs' is at the bottom of the sign also...if so, how the heck did that get from Mississippi to Sweden? Like to hear its story...bet it's interesting.
Powermaster is the other company that makes Alternators that look like Generators, http://www.powermastermotorsports.com/powergen.html these are available from Speedway motors here http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/7402,466_1949-1953-Flathead-Ford-Alternator.html?itemNo=powergen Cost is $369.99 If you become an alliance member you can get Speedway stuff from Gambino's Kustoms and they may give you a discount. Alex Gambino is a very helpful guy.
nice score did you get it running? You should stick to that original look and maybe throw a little more look its all up to you man good luck.
Well i didn´t find it on a farm That pretty musch sums up what i intend to do with it for this summer, the wheels are on sand blasting right now and new WW tires is laying in the trunk om my other car
The car is from missisippi before it was imported to Sweden and it´s been here for about two years. The signage on the door says: Pascagoula´s Gas and Service Auto repair - food - fish bates - banjo strings - opens 24 -Pascagoula - Mississippi It´s right after the swamp And then the pinstripers sign. The signing is made here i sweden by an italian or if he was spanish pinstriper that calls himself blaster.
