I say who really gives a crap. I wouldn't call it wrong, since it does have 5 windows. It's just a little redundant I guess.

  6. Wel, Personally I don't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks. HAHA it's my fucking ride and yes it is a 5 WINDOW MODEL A!!! 1931 for the exact year, and as far as standard or deluxe I could give a rats ass on that as well. It's a 1931 Ford Model A. It would be like calling me a ONE eyed bastard or something like that. Yeah I have ONE eye and I don't go around calling myself one eye, just one eyed willy hahahaha, anyway screw it lets get back to hot rods, so who has a 5 Window Model A here? Anyone have some flathead parts to trade for a 5.0 mustang engine? :)

  7. No, but I'll bet your popular with the ladies!!!

My favorite was a sign a guy had in front of his Model A in Scottsdale that said "1930 Ford Deuce Coupe".

    Model A Five-window is wrong.

  12. Now that is some funny stuff there, but I still like my 5 window model A hehe :) What's so wrong about it? it does have 5 windows :) but I guess I could call a 2 door ford escort a 5 window too, oh wait that is a hatch back. hmmmmm what other 5 windows are out there? I really don't think any were ever designated from the factory as a "5 window coupe"

Well, yes. I, too have a 1931 Model A Coupe. It does, indeed, have 5 windows. I've always preferred the 5 window '32 to the three window Deuce, and I was building one when I sold it and started the Model A. Since I was already on the HAMB, I just kept my name. Y'all may just call me SIR if you'd like.:)

Shouldn't they really call the standard coupe a 6 window or is the windshield kinda like a thumb?

  17. LOL ya know I have always wondered that as well, but I didn't wanna open another can of worms. good evening gents. :)

Well you don't have five fingers - or do you???? Had a kid in school with six toes on one foot - that was weird.

    3/5 windows and a windshield - methinks.

So my 28 A modified, built with a roadster pick up body would be a no-window? It has a widscreen. It's a Hallock style windscreen so can I call it a 2 window?

A guy once called it a T-bucket. Tried to explain it was an A. Made no difference.

Hey I've got another one..."FULLY BLOWN" . Anyone know of any partly blown engines? This is a shit thread but I read it all the way to the end so I have earned the right to post

They were all cool and are all both hard to find. It's like someone callin a 4dr. '60s caddy D'ville a 5 hole(coupe??). Get over it.

Heard a guy say the front was "nosed and decked" once. And not to start this up again, but I just hate it when I hear a chevy called a shoebox.

Yes, there were 3Window Model A Ford Coupes, they were called Sport Coupes, looked just like a Cabriolet but the top was fixed, nonfolding.

Don't feel slighted!---At early NSRA events (1970) guys with A bone coupes would saw off the tops & call their cars ROADSTERS! To cover up the roll up windows, they just upholstered fabric over the top of the doors! ANYTHING with roll up windows is not a roadster or Phaeton.-------Don

I'm going to report this thread to the D.R.D. (Department of Redundancy Department.)

  29. On a somewhat related note ...

Awhile back, my 7 year old son asked me what kind of car the "Hot Rod" was?

I explained to him that it is 1932 Ford 5-window coupe ... that his grandfather chopped & channeled it ... and that its engine is from 1958 Chrysler and is called a HEMI. I went on to explain (in details that a 7 year old could understand) what the terms "chopped" and "channeled" mean ... why the engine is called a HEMI ... etc., etc.

It really seemed like he was taking it all in ... he even asked why it's not called a 6-window? ("Dad, why don't they count the windshield?") ... I explained to him that 5wd is a nickname ... that it is actually called a Standard Coupe ... and that the '32 Ford Deluxe Coupe has 3 windows and "suicide doors" (explained that term to him too).

This "father/son conversation" went on for quite some time ... we even talked about all the other body styles offered in 1932 ... and the difference between a roadster and a cabriolet. It was quite the male-bonding session!:) For the first time in his young life, he really seemed to be genuinely interested in my car hobby (he's pretty much a LEGO & Star Wars fanatic).

Then a couple of weeks ago I was driving my son and his 1st grade classmates on a field trip to a farm. The boys were quite talkative in the back seats ... I heard my son start to tell another boy that "my dad has a Hot Rod" ... but the other kid interrupted him and says "so does my dad ... he's building a Hot Rod in our garage ... it's a Porsche!" ... I was sure that my son would correct his classmate ... but to my dismay, he says "my Dad's hot rod is an old Alfa Romeo Spider ... it's like a roadster ... but more like a cabriolet cuz' it has roll-up windows" ... Arrrrgh!

Later I told them that my Alfa (and the boy's father's Porsche) are really Sports Cars ... not Hot Rods (like my "chop-n-channeled, Hemi-motored, 32 Deuce, 5wd coupe" :D).

My son did "redeem himself" last week though ... he went to see the new Indiana Jones movie and came back all excited about the opening scene with a "a bunch of teenagers in a '32 Hi-boy roadster with a rumble seat racing some Army guy's" ... now if I can just tear him away from those damn LEGOs! :)
