That'd be mighty close to one I'm working on that, if it works out, will probably be my "official" entry. ( Tho I don't want to make the Zebra jelous.)
That was my next project on the list...getting the interior done! But for now...just havin some fun out in the driveway!
I have so many things in my mind as to what I would truly want. (Multiple cars). Just don't have the skills or the money to get them all. Here is a pic of what I am starting with for one that I will be able to have. And here is what has been cruising through my dreams for MANY years. I did not draw this. This rendering is courtesy of another HAMB member: Eddiesixem. By the way, thanks again for doing this for me. Kael
I sold the "T" on Ebay for $180,000,000.00! Just kiddin! This is my dream Car/Truck! My Dad is selling his car collection...so I got 1st pick...I chose the 37 Ford pickup!
My official enrty for Art Challenge #9. O.K. I busted my hump to make sure and get my dream car done. I had to really think about this one because i have so many ideas of what car I'd really want. I'm pretty much just a car lover, in general. My ultimate dream car is a 1935 Auburn 851 Boattail Speedster, followed by H. Earl's LaSabre Dream car. From there it goes to the 1953 Buick Skylark. But a dream car, like Earl's, should be one you can drive the snot out of and not just a show and shiner. With that, I put my other favorite, a '59 Cadillac Convertible aside for what, to me, would fit my every wish. edginess, rebellion, speed, reliability, utility, and head turning looks. The rules of the contest plainly state that "new" art must be generated for each challenge otherwise this car would have fit the bill nicely. With seating for 4 (5 on a pinch) the whole family could enjoy "The wooden Bucket." (Though, I'm not too sure how practical the side draft carbs are.) So here it is. I fell hard for a '27 RPU I saw in Omaha. Bone stock and in, seemingly, perfect condition. I instantly went to work in my brain on what I'd do to that thing if I got my hands on it. I prefer the looks of the '28 model but love the rounded edges on the '27 so I started by graphting the two together, lengthening the doors and cab in the process to fit my 6'2" frame. The bed's only been cut a few inches up front for better proportions. I'd hide the rails on the sides and integrate a rolled pan into the rear. Riding side saddle are a pair of Chrome "dummy" lake pipes. The tail lights, '59 Cadillac's, exit form these units. A moon tank compliments a classic '32 grille which holds a reliable radiator and rides in front of a lengthened hood. The bonnet bay sides get full air because it reminds me of one of my favorite childhood TONKA toys. Aircraft style leather seats with 60's style pleats, fit to my back-side, set facing a 1940 dash; cut to fit. A steering wheel out of a '58 or '59 chevy set's 'er into the jet age. All this rides proudly on a pair of '32 rails, boxed and Xed. The front horns are arched a bit to get the front a bit closer to the ground. A drop beam and hairpins on a buggy spring w/ a p-bar and tube shocks does the work up front. In the rear, a Zed frame supports a GM rear with, let's say, 3:78 gears and is held in place by split '41 bones and coil-over shocks. A slightly altered '32 gas tank sets between the rails out back. Power is supplied by a Pontiac 326 topped with a SCoT Blower which, in turn, is topped with a pair of 97s. The mill runs through a Muncie 4 speed. Headers blow through a set of glass packs and out the rear. I'd run 16" big 'n' little Bi-Ply skinnys on '40 Ford (style?) steel rims capped with baby moons. I'd finish it in a suede, oxide red with cream on the rims, grille and as accents to the interior. Light oak slats in the bed would carry the 'creamy' color through. Here's The "A-BONE-RPU"
I JUST found this challenge...with 3 days to go there's no way I'll get anything done on time. When do these challenges get announced..I need to keep an eye out for the next one. What program are you using? I'm more of the sketch it up, ink it, scan it and import into Illustrator and Photoshop kind of guy, but I'd like to get more into 3D renderings. Of course, using a Mac the 3D software out there isn't as readily available for my platform.
Since there was an extension of the deadline I thought I might make a second entry... "The Limester." It would be cool to have a show rod... kind of a dream.
Jigger... NICE! (seems like you have mentally engineered yours, too! It's funny how those things just get away from you!) Gary... that's incredible! fortypickup, man... you're having a blast, huh? Great stuff! Thought I'd toss another on the fire... this being a couple of "daydream cars" to balance out my more outrageous entry... Mild '50 Olds, sitting on some leftover wheels from around the shop (perhaps they came w/the '56 when starting??), covered in a deep root beer... And a little '33 coupe sitting low and nasty on some big wires... Kind of a modern take, without being too overt. Great entries so far this time around!
So then you're creating all those views individually? Crazy man..just wackadoodle crazy... OK, I sat in bed last night from around 10:30 to 12:00 with a Newcastle in one hand and a #2 in the other. I'm tightening it all up right now, so I'll get it to you by the 14th iffin I'm able. Otherwise, I'm all ready for the NEXT challenge... BTW Gary...I LIKES the Limester...sweet ride!!
Hmmm...no rules or limits? How about the '39 type 57 Bugatti that was originally given to the Shah of Iran as a wedding gift from the government of France? It's the coolest car ever made anyway, but as we all know, they can always be improved! This one just needs a slight tweaking. It's already chopped (well, actually the windshield height is adjustable), so sectioning and channelling brings it all into proportion. Slam it and you got it! Don't worry, Classic Car Lovers, I don't have the $$20mil. necessary to purchase this car, so it's still safe from the torch.
if i were given the chance to design a car, that would have been used in a television series, that would be my dream. i loved the Barris cars of the sixties and the show rods of the era. With a little homage to the lil coffin...
Cool stuff himjively. Like the line GaryC. Thanks forr the props 4dpu (now get busy on somthing, will ya??) Flyin'P That Olds is solid, brotha!
That's tasty!! Noticed that you're also here in the Valley--- did you happen to catch the "Curves of Steel" exhibit last year at the Phoenix Art Museum? Pure inspiration... Man, you kill me with these!! I love it!!! ...and LOWCAB, man, not even sure HOW I stumbled past your incredible work... GREAT entry!! Jigger, thanks!! Really digging on the details in your work, as always!
Thanks, FP. Yeah, I did see "Curves of Steel" last year. I also attended the Peterson Museum's similar exhibit in LA called "French Curves" a few years ago and in my opinion, the Phoenix Art Museum's collection was a little better. The Bugatti I whacked on this thread was a part of the Peterson show and is owned by the museum. Although it looks like a little sports car in photos, it's massive in person...kind of on the scale of a Duesenburg.
thanx for the compliments, guys, i always get a little worried that one of these art challenges will die, then boom everybody shows up with the coolest stuff. voting is really tuff
Excellent work everyone!! Some VERY high quality work here! I thought I'd have a crack at this Challenge also. I'm a simple man and I have a simple dream.......... There's not too many of these over here in Australia, and I have a 1958 FC Station Sedan which is pretty close I guess - but my dream car would have to be a 1955 Chevy Nomad!! Cheers ;-)
So, I was planning on finishing my doodle tonight and posting it tomorrow and today, of all days, during lunchtime my 2002 Silverado which is new enough that it should NOT have any problems, decided not to start on me. You can guess what my night will be spent doing... Next challenge I'm there...
