The shoebox Fords are a rather popular Custom or even a cool Rod but its all about condition as far as price goes. If it looks like that and its mostly solid around here you'd be looking at around $2,000 plus or minus depending on the body and what all is missing. How clean is it? What all is missing? What comes with it?

I wouldn't give much over $750 for it.

It's a 51 . Look at the top grill bar. 49/50 had a hump in them. Looking at it again, it seems to have the 49 blinkers with a straight grill bar. It might be a 49/50 canadian meteor

Wow, I see the hump in the upper grille bar clear as day. I've got a '51, so this is pretty obvious. It's a tudor sedan, which is not as desireable to me as the club coupe. All in all it looks pretty rough and incomplete, and if it's in Missouri, rust could be a real problem. On the other hand there are lots of aftermarket parts available, as well as a lot of used, and some NOS.

Hey J-Rock. Nice to see you actually post something....

What you are looking at is what us non Dodge guys call a shoebox Ford. (49-51 coupe or sedan) You should buy it if you can get it for 500-800 bucks or so.

Here is mine from about 6 years ago..

Why don't you carry your *** down to the Drags this year???

    See ya, -Abone.

  15. I just bought a running/driving '50 Moredoor for $2K . That one looks like a lifetime project . I'd p*** no matter what he's asking . '49-51 shoeboxes are pretty easy to come by in way better shape . HAMB cl***ifieds almost always have one . You're not saving anything by buying something like that .

49's had different parking lights, FORD spelled out in letters on the hood (not Crest), pull door handles (not push ****ons), exterior trunk hinges (not interior), twist off cap on gas tank (not gas flap), and the single bullet in the middle of the grille, same as 50. 51 had two bullets. I think that's all.

49 had the twist on one side trunk handle. 50 had a different one piece deal. That's the only thing I remember. I had a '49 in '59. Only kept it for about a week. Think it went for around $50-$75 at that time.

It's a 49 alright. Don't pay over $500 tops. It's gonna need rockers, floors and probably a new frame. Here's a photo of my 49 coupe I paid $500 for......had to replace the inner and outer rockers, floor pans and the panel below the decklid. That car is a two door sedan and they dont' blow my skirt up at all...it's personal preference thing. I'd have to cut that car into a coupe or a convertible.

mazdaslam told you what it was in about 3 minutes and 500 bucks would probably be a big price,..............Now, What is that other tin in the background ?

I don't think this one is worthy of a restoration seeing as it's probably pretty rotten underneath but I'd grab the doors and the quarter panel sections in case you wanted to convert over a 4 door. Also the rear window section with surrounding sheetmetal is a popular swap in a lot of top chops.

This is clearly a '49 Ford 2 door sedan, I can't believe people are still trying to argue otherwise.

S**** steel is down, if I wanted it I'd offer $400 for it, unless there's WAY more there to it than it looks. And I'm usually the optomist when it comes to fixing stuff.
