My friend Salvatore built this one in the 60's and it remains unchanged aside from minor tweaks. It has been driven to every Street Rod Nationals.

He drove me around town in it for several hours the other day as we searched for a battery for my broken-down motorcycle.

 

Nice to hear it's getting driven. Most collect dust. I do have one friend with one he built in the 70's. Has over 250k miles on it now.

 

Just curious why Norms "Kookie" gets called "60's style"? It was built pre-1955, as it was on the cover of Hot Rod in October 1955 and in Life magazine in like 1957. If the Kookie was inspiration for "T" builders of the 1960's, then wouldn't what we now call "60's style" really have been a 1960's version of 1950's style??

 

Think it was Buddy Dughi's first? Someday someone will do a story on him as an "originator". I remember seeing his stuff back in the early 90's as really standing out as traditional when it wasn't very prevalent- especially in "gold chain" Orange County.

 

Looks like some crazy stuff going on with that front axle.

Anymore of this one - it's THE T that made me want a flattie powered one myself. Just built mine a little taller that's all!

As far as Collin's t-bucket goes.....there was a pic in StreetRodder that is burned into my head, but I don't think it was the one shown in this thread. It was slammed, I think it was black and had a Doug Schneider Cams maltese on the cowl. It was very well proportioned.

My favorite era for buckets is around the mid to late 60's. The half hour or so between Ivo style t-buckets and the Leg Show T (both of these were very cool by the way). I love the cycle wheel front mag wheel back t-buckets. White headers, black frames, metallic body, black vinyl interiors. Again, Photoman, GREAT PICS!

You're welcome! Ivo's car is probably my favorite T of all time. Got to meet him at the 50th GNRS. Nice guy. Nice car. Danny Eichstedt's Leg Show is a crazy cool T but definitely 70's Fad T. See it on the cover and inside the January 1971 Rod & Custom. Terry Brown's T was real close to the Leg Show design. See it on the cover of Street Rodder September 1975.

But I digress...back to 60's T's...

This is my first build. It was built in the 60s. Then the second owner cut it up and stored it in his garage for 40 years Until my pops found it and made it ours. Took 6 months to build and we changed afew things from the dangerous original way it was built.

 

I love the pics in the first post. Those Ts look amazing. The first one is perfect

Great thread! As a side note,on the humourous side,did anyone else notice how skinny "streetrodders" were back then,compared to a "street rod nationals" now.
