Thanks. I didn't own it. John Behr out of KC originally had Doug Thompson build it and Tom Webb from Joplin got it and had me paint it. It's a shame it was never featured in any magazine...one of the best custom Vettes ever built. Doug formed the fastback plexiglass windows from a wooden mold.

Its funny you say that as my friend stated he only had two requirements on the paint job.....Somewhere it had to have hok rootbeer candy and no mexican sayings......:D

Must be the water coming from the Ohio that causes the fasination with shiney stuff........HAHAHA

I visited Jim Green (Wild Child) at his shop not too long ago when I was in the kansas City area. His work was also grossly overlooked in the mags. He was the first guy to make furniture from car parts. Below is a beat up old advertising poster of his from the 70's. His old three wheeler is in front of his original Bantam coupe. He painted Evel Kneivel's Cadillac station wagon and didn't cash the check so he could have the autograph.

Yeow, That is too boss! What a great look at some real talent. This wouldn't be my style (although I did like the flames on the shoebox) but what a mind trip you get in some of these designs. I honestly don't know how someone sees this in their minds eye.

It is definitely different but down right beautiful. You gotta appreciate the creativity, design, layout and labor that goes into any of these cars. If I was to chose any other car it'd be the El Camino with Starsky & Hutch with Huggy Bear.

    Great Post!

Here's one I painted in 1966. Fades up from purple to burgandy to red to orange to gold to green to blue and back to purple down the middle of the car. All candy colors and each color highlighted in a corresponding color of 'flake.
