So, while my Ford is in millions of pieces I need something to drive on my days off. Found this one online and fairly close, decent price too....so I took it.

1960 Pontiac Laurentian Safari. At some point someone put a 305 or 350 chev in it and a floor shifter. Stock rear end. The pictured suspension/wheel set-up is being removed as I type....going back to steelies with spider caps and a sensible ride height.

The interior has been re-done partially, good enough for me anyways.

One thing I love about the '60 is the styling of the rear.

Well, thats it, and i'm gonna be driving the hell out of it for the rest of the summer and fall.

  2. Nice find. The ride height looks good to me. You need to scrape your undies once in a while....

Well I'd certainly consider that far more than a simple driver fill in. That's something the vast majority IMO would love to have.

Nice longroof! I like the wood steering wheel. In the 70's my brother had a custom van with one of them. Like my signature says "4 doors and station wagons make cool cruisers"....from a fellow BC'er have fun driving it...

Love that wagon. Customer came into our shop today with his '60 Strato Chief 2 door sedan (I think it was a Strato Chief).... I really dig those '59-'61 Ponchos. Can you send some of that good looking western Canadian tin out here to Ontario ??

This thing is just silly tho, especially in the front. I lost count of the number of times i saw sparks out the back on slight bumps on the drive back home. Coils have been cut.....vigorously.

Hey nice 60 Pontiac long roof. You know the Canadian version was a body on a Impala chassis, incl. the drive train. I know this is true for the coupes, so the same must be for all models. So those parts are a lil easy to come by, than for us here with Domestic models. I have 60 Ventura coupe. Again congrats!

Nice score, now you need some cool old travel decals to fill up the rear windows.

    Update:
So today work started on the suspension. Got new shocks and springs on all corners. Bushing kit is going in on the front, as the old bushings were falling apart. Converting it to a disc brake front end. All new brake lines. Dropped spindles going in it too.

Did some serial-number snooping and it's got an early 305 with 2 speed air-cooled Powerglide in it.

    Anybody want those Z28 wheels?

What kind of Z wheels (yeah, I'm a redneck...)? Can't really see, but they look like the steel 5 spokes..

The car looks great! As for the stance I think I would've just started by gettin new shocks and rubber 'cuse it sets right were it should. little higher and you might lose some of the cool factor. my.02
Have fun and drive the heck out of it!!!

To all who've mentioned the ride height....the way it's set up has been damaging the car for quite a while, so I'm going back to stock springs.

To get that low and be SAFE i'm thinking i'd need to go Air-ride....and thats not on the cards, money-wise
