I am already here in Salina- just waiting for you guys to show up!:D

Paul and I ate lunch at the Cozy Inn today, followed by the retro DQ for dessert. We can meet at the Cozy on that Friday for lunch again if anyone is up for it.

Ha! Thats all accounted for. Fuel money is the big push. I already offered to trailer it out in my truck and a trailer to be named later. But diesel being $5/gallon doesn't help. We're workin on it though.

For all of you asking about motel rooms there should be plenty. We are on 2 interstates. Got lots of rooms. The newer nicer motels are in the south part of town along I-135. The host hotel is actually an old lower budget type place. But it is close to the park. The park itself is very shady which is important this time of year. Yeah, we have trees in Kansas. A few anyway.

Well, Thank you very much Povertyflats...

Yes, it's true...I will be there...(but I'm not so sure about the "famous" part above). I will even bring a good supply of my three books to sell...and autograph. BTW, the autograph is free...I don't charge for them (as "famous" people are wont to do)...and I'm liable to sign just about anything....including BobK's whitewalls...

I hear ya about the money for fuel thing. Megan and I are on our way to the GG DesMoines event right now. We're in Davenport, IA on E have already spent $120 in fuel. Will fill up tomorrow morning $60 and that will get us to DesMoines. Will cost us another $180 to get back to my place on Sunday. Add that with the cost of motels ($86 tonight) and you've got an expensive weekend.

Megan and I are still sitting on the fence regarding this event. I've got a room booked already and Malcolm invited us to stay at his place overnight on Thursday which really helps out with motel expenses. I'd really like to see my western mid-west pals that I don't get to see to often along with those coming down from the north. Of course add you eastern boys and how could us girls pass that up?:D

    We'll probably see ya there;)

Are you both driving a car (two cars on the trip)...???

If so, here's a solution...find a friend on Des Moines to keep one car for the time in between and ride back home in one car. That'll save wear, tear and gas, unless you absolutely need the car at home.

If one car only, ask the same friend to store the car and take the bus home...mite not get you home when you'd like, but it'd definitely be cheaper...

BUT, if you need both cars at home...guess you've got to bite the bullet...the KKOA event is a good event...get to see lots of Kustoms you won't see anywhere else...and Big Olds would fit right in.

I don't have near as far to drive (2 1/2 tanks of gas from home)...but it's one event I would not miss...

I'm around 20-22 MPG unloaded in my truck, 16-17 with a trailer on the highway. Its way cheaper than that of a gas truck. Darren got 7-8 MPG towing it to Detroit in his Ford so we're already ahead of the game. Well see how it goes, I'd love to hang out with all of you again.

there are several west coast Beatniks making the trip from California to Kansas. Jack Rudy and his newly Flaked 52 Chevy is among them. I also hear that my old 52 will most likely be making the trip from California back to the midwest. The leadsled show has almost become one of those underground kinda shows like the roundup. It's the people man.....
We're gathering Thursday night at my little tattoo shop in Wichita and after dark were hittin the road. nothing fancy, nothing official.....we just wanna drive under coolness of night......
I'm bringing the 'new' T coupe and the 'new' 58 chevrolet truck..........nothing special, just a couple of beaters.......but this will kinda be the first show for both of them.......
I just wanna hang out with Moriarty..............

Roger, Megan and I are in Big Olds. He's coming home with me and we will drive him out this way again at the end of the month THEN again in August. I just wish the scenery between Detroit and there was something other then cornfields. Looking forward to seeing you and Dan again.

    Hey Roger,
Stop by the shop on your way through.Give you a sneak peek of Doug's Olds(if for some reason it is not back in Wichita by then).Just killing me that it is not ready for Salina Kemps but can't rush these things.Guess I'll have to bring my "rat rod bobber open wheel whatever they call them" pickup.....
