Hot Rods Picked up a 40 Deluxe Coupe this Weekend ~ Pics!

  1. Damn that's nice!

  2. Yeah, I guess it doesn't suck too bad. To be cool tho, it needs to be primered over, paint some latex whitewalls on it, paint the wheels bright red and put some 8 inch shackles on it to get it on the bump stops. Take the mufflers off and put about 20 of those cool magnetic fake bullet-holes on it! Yeah, put a fake bulls-eye [glass damage] stickers on the windshield and some mexican blankets on those ugly seats. Now, you're lookin good!
Seriously, that is one good lookin 40. I wouldn't change much if anything. Congrats.

Wow, Dan that is really nice. I'm in the middle of building one that was a bit of a project when I bought it, so it's pretty cool to see one bought in this nice of shape with all the cool stuff already done. Gary

I love the color combo with the red & gold interior + dark green outside.

I sure hope I get to own a 40 coupe sometime before I die!

Dont know the tires size off hand, but the front has a 4" drop Superbell axle and a reverse eye spring.
Not sure on the color combo either... It is a little Christmas-y, but it is growing on me. Still need to paint the door garnish, and paint the glove box door, but that is about the extent of work I'm going to do to the car

    Thanks!

Yes... the Radials are staying in place for now. I love the look of a bias tire, but these tires are new and I think they work fine w/ the car. The 36 will be getting Bias Wide White Firestones though.

The whole goal with this car is not to change anything or work on it. It does everything a driver should and thats the way its staying :)

I should also state that the 40 is a bit of a partnership with my father. He has a very nice 35 Cabriolet, but it is all stock and not much of a highway car, so we figured we should have a nice highway cruiser between the 2 of us.

Haha... Thats the first thing I asked when he opened the hood. It is apparently part of an old heater system that uses the hot air from the motor to heat the passenger compartment. I think there is a plenum that goes on to that round piece. under the dash is a fancy chrome duct that opens and closes with levers. I'd like to find the rest of it to make it complete.... anyone ever hear of these?

yep you got two very nice cars there, the 40 is really really nice, haa nice stance and it looks super clean and looks to need absolutely nothing. glad to hear you are leaving it as is insted of getting involved in it, drive it to bits and enjoy it.

that 35 cabrio is lovely looking too, funnily enough ive got a bit of a soft spot for 35s though... what do you mean not a highway cruiser? i would cruise any highway in it :) and take life easy.

If I had that coupe or one just like it, I'd think I had died and gone to heaven.

    Congrats, Ted

Hi Dirty. I live in St.Louis also. Have you had it at any of the local shows? Fenton, CHUCK-A-BURGER etc. I would like to see it up close. Sweet looking ride!

The 35 cruises just fine, but w/ 4:11 gears and a stock flatty... 55mph is about all she's got. It should be getting a set of 3:54's soon to tone down the RPMs a bit

I actually had the 40 at the Fenton (Sunset Hills) Cruise this past Friday - July 4th. I live in South County, so I don't make the drive to Chuck-a-burger too often. I do try to make quite a bit of local shows and cruises around town. What part of STL you from 38fordcoupe?
