I had teh whole car wet sanded to 1500 and teh drivers side buffed, but it still had some orange peel, so this pic is the entire car wet sanded AGAIN.

If you look reeeeal close in this pic, you might be able to see the orange peel.

So...I am way behind on this stupid car. I wanted to have her done by end of May, but I'm gonna have to settle for end of July. Or August..

More in a week or so, -Abone.

Boy, sounds like a real pain in the ass. I mean, having to sand on a stupid chopped Merc. Must be a real bitch. I bet a few fellow HAMBers would take that problem off yer hands.

    Very Cool project!

  5. hahaha! Still nicer than 99.6% of the cars on the road ;)

Not like I'm an expert or anything.....besides, you've sanded it twice....but...
I cut my stuff dry with a hard pad DA and 800 or 1000 first. Next with 1500 wet with an interface pad, then buff the shit out of it. Because I'm a slow learner, I've just recently tried Trizact paper(3000?) and DAMNED if it don't take the rest of the scratches out! :D
If I knew how to spray better my stuff might look as good as your Merc

Whatcha using for compound? Just curious....cause it looks bitchin

Awesome job. I know how hard it is to make black look good/smooth. It is worth the effort though when you're done.

Totally unreal. Your before pic and a final picture of straight, smooth BLACK paint should make it to Ripley's Believe It Or Not!!! :)

You might try going over it with 2000 grit and then 3M Perfect II.

This will make things a little easier with a black finish.

Your body and paint work look superb by the way. It's not easy to get a black car looking that straight.

From the pictures - that car looks great. I love it.

  22. That is going to be beautiful-Congrats!!

Now for the rest of you, let this be a lesson...next time you have to buff out a car...think about having 4-6 friends come over, give each one a panel to do, buy 'em food, drinks, whatever it takes to bribe them to help you for a solid day of work and viola' you're done in one day of fun and camaraderie...

    Just a thought-W.S.

Trizact 3000 is the way to go after you have done your 1500. Get a spray bottle of water and a interface pad and bam! It will buff so easy without having that 1500 haze.

I bumped my head on the screen trying to see the peel... Nice work.

Like others have said, go a little higher on the grit, at least 2000 or else you might be doing it again seeing the rest of the work youve done and how 99.6% perfect it is. It will save alot of buffing.
