I have the same prob with my 59. It's a 262 truck motor mated to a 66 mustang 3 speed. That little motor screams at 65 mph. OK Germ I think I'm going to jump in here and take advantage of your knowledge. Questions for Germ. 1. does the 262 and the 223 use the same cam? 2. Is there a direct bolt on 2 bbl carb, that will mate up with the stock intake?(Mine has the holley 1 bbl now) 3.For Dress up parts, has any one made a differnt valley cover for the side of the block. Thanks for any info Germ.
Shazzam! - or more eBay spam? #2477744797 - Fenton dual exhaust headers for the Ford 223", ends 4/16. #2477744772 - Edmunds dual carb intake for the Ford 223", ends 4/16. Happy hunting, guys! Kinky6
G'day, Jamie Desoto if you do have a 170/200ci six here is a link for you it might help Crossflow 200 fsp Tech Also if you can get a copy of "Complete Book of Engines 3rd annual edition" by Hot Rod mag 1967 it has mods ranging from jetting out the carb to replacing cam final version put out 125bhp (this was in '67). US 200 block with Australian 250 crossflow head. Good Luck!
I could have used it a few monthes ago. I put a new one in and it's just now looking a little wet under there.
I think the 223's came with two types of pushrods: solid and tubular. We always used the tubular ones. Nice little units and didn't bend under heavy loads. Just my thoughts. Regards, Dave.
Ok, so I'm dredging up this old thread to see if anyone is still out there that knows about these motors. I am starting to rebuild one of these and need a good mentor. the motor I have is a 223 out of a 57' automatic and I'm going to be putting it in a 53' car. This will be a custom and a driver, I don't expect it to win races, but highway driving and some scoot would be good. My plans now are to deck the head 0.030 and install hi-lift rockers, split the exhaust, and i'm not sure about the intake yet. Blake
Saw this today when I was surfin the 'bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ford...hash=item180262613533&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318
Yeah me too, but from what I have been told the three singles is a bit much for those motors. But damn it would look cool with those three glass bowl carbs!!!
GERM- What kind of speed parts are available for the 215? My wifes modified has a 215 and I like the look of it. Im tired of people saying "put a V8 in it". Id like to shred tires with the 6!
Sold for $250. Seems reasonable, but I don't know a lot about them. Would have been better with linkage.
